All these companies seem to be a little erratic in their service.  I know of one other forum member who contacted my contact at Allianz and got no reply.  I have just contacted them twice by email to get a quote on household items insurance and haven't got any answer from them  ::)   So I guess I shall vote with my feet and go elsewhere.

That sounds like service in Penang. Most of them don't stick to appointments or schedules. If it is meet at 9am, they will be there at 9:30am, if lucky! Some of them don't reply to email! Not sure why. Probably, not comfortable in writing English, maybe. Best to call or see them personally to get a response, answer or action. I know I may generalise here. But, 8 out of 10 times is true. At least for me.

So, when in Penang. Best to take things slow, easy and steady. Be a bit layback, and not rush. People are slow, except the traffic! But, if it is urgent, make sure you call them. Not just email.  ~44~

Would have to agree with you Foodtrail........ result is that many times I don't bother with "local"...... insurance needs are with offshore companies (cheaper and with better service), and many of our business needs I import (again, cheaper and with better service). In the past have attempted to have some of my overseas clients source locally (eg printing, gift boxes, OEM cosmetics) but all with the same result.... failed as things in their own country (USA/Europe) were cheaper, which I find amazing.

Well that's okay if you're already in the country, but I am not, so I'll be going with one of the insurance companies that has bothered to reply.
