Is there any 'secret' beeches on Penang where it is same to swim without the pollution or is the whole island not up to standard?

Cheers

Hi JJ

The water at Monkey Beach isn't to bad but still nothing great. For clearer and cleaner water Langkawi or the east coast is a better choice.

Yeh but if anyone posts any secret beaches on here, they're not going to be secret anymore.  And may I say that your new avatar is giving me the creeps  :'(

I mean the east coast of Malaysia. There are some really nice beaches in the Penang National Park but the water is still the same. Murky.
As I said Monkey beach is slightly better, but not much. I swim in the pool :)

Yes looking forward to the East side - SCUBA Diving is my No1 passion and is one of the reasons for moving across

Any other divers on here or any forum members wanting to learn when I get there give me a holler

Cheers

If you like diving I can let you in on another secret: Go to Pulau Weh. It's an island above Bandah Aceh and has spectacular diving. Strong currents but really big stuff including Manta Rays and Dolphins.

Good Man, thank you

Have been researching this move for some time and have a list of dive sites I need to go see.  At say 10 - 15 new sites a year I hope to live to 102 ha ha

You have just added another one

Cheers

I hope you added the similan islands as well also great. We were there a few years go with a sailing boat. According to the depth meter we had 50 meter under the keel and I still could see fishes on the bottom. Never saw clearer water before or after that trip. Ah those were the days. ;)

He he he Ha ha really a communication "slip up" well I hope things get better as they appear to be doing, now we just need the motorised vehicles on beach and water brought into line with some enforced rules for water beach safety asap.

But why stop at Batu Feringhi and why stop with visible rubbish. :(

An article in today's papers quoted that although Malaysian tourism numbers were up the numbers of repeat visitors were very low.

Penang could be a tourism bonanza if it pulled out all stops. Think of what it would do for the local economy. From a selfish personal viewpoint I am quite happy that the Pearl of the Orient is a little known jewel.  :) :)
