I had a bit of a tweak in my back a year or so ago and I asked my wifes' family for advice. They are Chinese so I thought I might get some mystical treatment that would actually work.

They recommended a visit to a Chinese Bone Setter ???, sounds like a breed of dog. They were sure that I would benefit so I went along. Seems like when Chinese go to a doctor they all tag along, when I asked if anyone else had a problem they told me "no problem, just feel like a bit of bone setting". Arrived at a very dubious looking block of flats somewhere in Gelugor and joined the throng to await my turn. As a courtesy to the Ang Moh I was treated first and was attended by a couple of very large and beefy chaps, one (the guru) must have been well over seventy but very fit and healthy. The audience looked on interested to see if the Ang Moh Lang would scream in pain. Old Beefy proceeded to twist and stretch every part of my anatomy with great force. After about 20 minutes of agony he pronounced via interpretor that he had loosened me up and now his trainee (Young Beefy) should now start the treatment ~47~. After another 20 minutes of searing agony  :'( he pronounced me "OK lah" and warned me not to drink "heaty" drinks.

In the morning I felt no better and the family tried to get me to repeat the treatment, I told them "not on your life". Later I took a couple of anti -inflammatory tablets and have been right as rain ever since.

I think you are right to seek a chiropractor and not be prevailed upon to visit one of these torturers. ~15~
Don't just cut and paste, say what you think!

Given that chiropractors are clearly not flavour-of-the-day, I would like to put in a word for osteopaths.  [I am not sure how they differ from chiropractors.]

I have had good treatment from them on 3 occasions in the UK [all private practice].  If there is one in Penang, perhaps Paddy would like to give the idea a try.

Thanks I've a good Chiro back in UK he has kept me right for 23+ years after I recovered from shock when a well respected Physio said that I needed an immediate hip replacement. Will see who I can find and report back to you all.
