Thanks Bob.  From my previous email contact with Palshipping, I also found communication a bit hard going.  Perhaps I should talk with them on the dog&bone.  When did the guys actually collected your gear?  If they were to collect my stuff atend of August, probably end of October before they arrive at Port Klang, you think?   Did you get "proper" documents prior to your valuables sailing off? And what was the insurance cost like? Pay up front with credit card?

From what you've described, looks like you opted for one of their door-to-door "share-container" package?  I was quoted £1350 for this (only if I bought the service by end of July).  Tsk tsk... same old game.

I await Paul's contribution to see if he has similar good things to say about Palshipping.

Once again, thanks Bob for taking the time.

Shipping time quotes (delivered in Penang) was around 7/8 weeks and my goods were collected on 3rd July so early September is OK I think. If you are in the Port Klang area it should take a shorter time they told me.

I paid around £750 for 14 (30*18*18) boxes in a shared container, I hope its not shard with boxes of fish. I asked about a small 20' container and I think they quoted around £1400 but I am not sure. If you go for the shared container option a tip from Corporateangel is to put everything in bin liners, then get the strong clingfilm from Macro and clingfilm the whole box. The advice came a little to late for me but it sounds very sensible.

The insurance is a bit of a scam because they only pay for total loss not for damage. I was going to investigate taking out other insurance but I expect that could be a bit tricky. In the end I just chose a minimal amount. As most of the items could not be replaced anyway I just opted for a minimal amount. Prior to shipping I produced a sheet for each box briefly describing the contents. They provided me with a blue shipping form/reciept and attached my lists to the original.

PM me if you need anything else.

Bob

Hi All (NKS900, QJUMPER etc)

My experience using Pal Shipping?

I have to admit that 'touch wood', everything seems to have gone quite smoothly. Our goods were shipped over as Bob (Qjumper) has mentioned and then stored in a basic warehouse in Klang. We knew that our stuff was going to be stored for a lengthy period of time so we did the packing ourselves. My wife placed all of our goods in quality wrapping, bubble wrap etc, and then into waterproof bags in the event of any water problems and finally wrapped the boxed in industrial cling film. At the warehouse the boxes are placed onto a pallet to keep them off the floor and when we visited the warehouse we noticed various cats in the warehouse presumably to keep rats etc under control.

I would recommend that any storage costs are negotiated with Pal Shipping UK  as when we needed to extend the storage we were charged a little more, but nothing too excessive. The storage company organised by Pal Shipping UK was called ALL SEAS CARGO (M) SDN BHD, and the contact for storage is Ariati Othman, if you need the telephone number please feel free to PM me as we don't want this forum to descend into a free for all markeplace for companies marketing their products to us. Our boxes were stored for a little over six months and we received them last week. The guys delivering were very friendly and did take care, aside from one box which showed signs of water damage, everything seems to be in order including the clearly marked fragile boxes (we haven't opened all the boxes yet). The box with water damage was opened and everything was okay.

The also allow you to go down to the warehouse in Klang (please note that the quality of a Malaysian warehouse is not the same as a UK warehouse!) and collect any boxes you need during the storage period, at least we will have something to open for Christmas!

I hope that our experience using Pal Shipping helps you to make an informed choice

Kind regards

Paul
