What Sort of Medical Insurance

Hi Scott,

I have had a look at the motour website and they do not show anything about the insurance waiver however all the agency sites carry something all these lines. This is from my agent:

Once the application is approved immigration will issue a letter of “conditional approval”. The medical examination, insurance coverage (and placement of fixed deposit, if required) must be arranged at that time.  If you cannot obtain medical coverage because of your age this requirement can be waived. We can assist with arranging the medical examination

Luckily for me Richard Ohh at AIA says "no problem" he can insure me even at the age of 60 He also tells me that he has a new pruduct that will allow me to be insured up to the age of 100, after that he cannot say.

Thanks for the checking around. So AIA has a policy up to the age of 100, that's interesting.

Most policies that I've read about go up to 60 or 65. I think that the Ringgit Net policy can be extended beyond 64, but I'm not sure and I haven't been in touch with Richard Ohh for more than 2 years.

I think that not being able to get insurance because of a pre-existing condition, or because of age, isn't much of a factor in the process. I imagine that MoTour feels that anyone with RM300,000 or RM150,000 in FD's is able to pay for medical expenses, with or without insurance.

When I collected my visa the officer never looked at the policy, and didn't ask for the medical report so I didn't give it to him.

Seems that only AIG can insured us till 100! :-)We got the right insurance then?Hope the AIG Ipoh agent Winnie would give us a good offer too.

Hi All,

Just to let you know that we picked up our Health Insurance Today from Richard Ong - very efficient. Gave us two copies stamped as certified true copy. Make sure you ask for these as you will need them at Putrajaya. ( His contact has been posted by Scott above)

Had a bite of lunch after this in KLCC and then headed for Putrajaya. In and out in 35 minutes!! Hard to believe but all went smoothly. Go to level 3 take a ticket ( mention MM2H) and then go directly to counter 9. We payed our fees and then we were directed to an "executive lounge" where we were presented with our passports with the visa attached.

Maybe it was just a good day but we planned for a couple of hours wait so it was a pleasant surprise.

35 mins wow, it sounds like things are running pretty smoothly now. We will be picking up visa in November again with Richard providing the insurance. 

Did they mention anything about MM2H ID cards?

No there was no mention of ID cards. I meant to ask do we need to fill in entry cards when we come and go but I forgot. Anybody know? As someone mentioned there is now an MM2H entry desk at KLIA - my wife came through there last Friday when she arrived.

I think it is from 9 - 5pm did not really notice though. We arrived at about 2.15pm. The car park is out front. We tried to park in the underground car park but as we could not get through the barriers I guess this must be for staff only. The number of people waiting looks daunting when you arrive but I am sure that the MM2H applicant must be treated as a separate category as it was so quick.

Unfortunately Brian you still need to fill in those 'entry departure cards'. Hopefully the ID card will circumvent this necessity!

I noted that you mentioned that you picked up a number when you went to Immigration. As mentioned in a thread much earlier we just went straight to desk 9 which had no queues and we were dealt with straight away!

That's what we did following your advice but he told us we still needed a ticket so that we could be called back to pay the fees etc. Not that this happened as he just called us personnaly when he needed us! I imagine it depends who serves you.

Interesting. Like you say...it really does depend on who you see and how busy they perceive themselves to be.

I once paid a visit to JPJ to 'choose' a car registration plate. There you have to queue half an hour just to get a number, and then wait however long for the number to come up. Then you get a form and then you have to complete teh form and go and collect another number and wait again etc etc about three or four times. That why it takes a whole day to get the simplest of things done! Soon you get to know a contact who knows a 'runner' who will do all of this frustrating stuff for you for a measly 10 or 20 Ringgit!  Way to go!

08.30 to 17.30 five days a week. However I would give Friday PM a miss as Friday Prayers can eat into the afternoon period.

I'm sure I read a couple of postings on here that said it could be all done in a day - or have I misread that?  The insurance company I've contacted in Penang is saying "2 or 3 days subject to approval for the underwriting".  That sounds to me more like 5 days, doesn't it.

We've booked a short trip and I'm starting to think that we haven't allowed enough time.   Any thoughts anyone?

If you have travel insurance valid for a year, then you can submit together. FYI, a clinic located at PWTC level is a panel for MM2H, take about 30min and cost RM40 only. Easy and simple

Thanks Jonno.  Unfortunately we don't have any travel insurance and the ones issued here in Thailand will be in Thai language anyway, so no use.
