hi,

There's no public holiday, it's just normal stuff.  ~27~

My TV reception for Channel 3 has been wonky the past few days. The Celcom prepaid broadband connection is off/on and slow, deadly slow. And the haze appeared this morning, thick and smelly. I'm going out to get face masks for the haze, and H1N1 - 2 nuisances with one mask.     ~14~

I am trying to contact some business numbers and getting no reply from any of them.  Loopi.
Hi Loopi,

I am afraid that is 'par for the course' down here.  I expressed interest in a new vehicle to 5 different salesmen, promoting cars for 5 different manufacturers. Not one of them had the courtesy to follow up on my initial queries. Obviously no recession/downturn as far as they are concerned!! >:(

After many frantic calls I finally got a text from an agent I am dealing with who was off work on medical leave for the day and could only text that she was too sick to text the answer to my question. ::)
Now that I know you are all alive and well, I will try again today.

BTW...is the haze still caused by fires in Indonesia or are they long gone. If it's not that then what is it other than smog and did anyone answer about whether it was also in Penang?

Loopi.

In Penang we had some haze last week, the last days it is pretty clear  but we had some massive downpours during the weekend.

Just have a look at the national papers today. It is all the fault of Indonesia.....always is.
You will rarely if ever read about 'hotspots' in Peninsular Malaysia.

However it is very obvious for all to see that the problem is at least in part HomeGrown. Just look out the aircraft window next time you fly into/out of KL! >:(

On and off here.....
Morning was reasonable then the smoke smell arrived and visibility deteriorated, so we closed the windows & doors. Then it eased a bit, but now bad again.
We are off to Beijing in 10 days time (for 2 weeks)....will that be any better I wonder :-\ , ...and then up to Phuket in mid August. I am sure that will be fine!! :)

And you said you didn't travel much Fizzy  ~2funny

I'm really not sure if we get haze here or not <Phuket>.  It's not generally talked about in the local news - protests and murders much more interesting news.  We do tend to get a bit of local agricultural burning now and again and that can be a problem if the wind is in the wrong direction  >:(.  Be interesting to see how hazy the Penang haze is.

Believe me papaya, if you got haze in Phuket in any way remotely resembling the stuff down here in KL, you would know about it :D :D :D

Yes, yesterday Penang was just clear and beautiful, but today is bad. I can't see Butterworth from my house all day and starting to get a sore throat by early afternoon  :(

It's a bit murky in KL. Visibility is probably about 10kms. Just had a light shower so the air doesn't smell too bad (just yet) :-X

Interestingly, Johor is pretty clear too and quite mild. Only 27 degrees at the moment. There seems to be a peculiar pattern to the smoke dispersal that flies over Johor completely (most of the time) and dumps in the Klang Valley. My sympathies to all Klang residents.
