Paying for the Visa
« on: July 16, 2009, 09:13:20 PM »
When we call we will find out the amount for the visa and if our total is above RM400 we'll need to get a bank draft. This must be some thing new  :-\ because we've always paid cash before when we did our Extensions.

This is taken from "Renewal in Penang" thread.

Have any members ever paid by debit or credit card. Does Immigration have direct debit facilities?

Last time I renewed at Putrajaya I didn't think to check as it was 4-years x RM90 = RM360 and they took cash, and that was great as I wasn't prepared for anything else. Are there any banks close by to Immigration in Putrajaya?

Let's collect some information on this.

Yes there is a bank - Affin Bank - just as you enter Precinct 2 on the left. I think it is cash only if memory serves.

By the way for those, who may be interested, we have got our PR in Australia !

Cheers

Congratulations Brian. How much time do you plan to spend in Malaysia now that you have the 'down-under' option? f.yes

Back to topic. We started off with a 1 year Visa in 2002, and then got a 5 years Visa in 2003, and renewed our 5 year visa in 2008. We paid cash on all occasions, initially in Damansara, and latterly in Putrajaya. f.yes
The trouble with taking the ‘middle of the road’ position is that you get run over from both directions.

When we were in Putrajaya last year, picking up our MM2H visas, we specifically asked about credit/debit facilities. Carrying around so much cash was disconcerting, and we told the Immi officers that. But they just smiled apologetically and told us that, no, they didn't have any credit/debit facilities available. We (of course) suggested that they get onto that right away, and they agreed it was a good idea ... so it could probably appear as a government agenda item some time in the next century.

Hi FCS,

Probably not a lot. We are going to buy a small place in Port Douglas so that we can miss the winter in Perth - go there for say June - October .So don't think we will be visiting Malasyia much.

Our first priority is to travel around the whole of Australia by land - something we have wanted to do for years. So next May we will be heading North around the top end and then down through the east coast and through Melbourne and Adelaide back to Perth. We have planned about a 6-7 month trip.

Cheers

Brian
