On efforts to emphasise the learning of English, the number of English teachers would be increased by 13,933 -- retirees would be hired, as well as foreigners if need be.
The trouble with taking the ‘middle of the road’ position is that you get run over from both directions.

I read the full article. Oh what an utter balls-up! Do you know what the Malay is for square? "Segi impat sama". Right-angle triangle is even better! "Segi tiga bersudut tegak". My God, it will take a Malay speaker 6 hours just to explain Pythagoras' Theorem to a class!

This is what's really at stake here. Malay doesn't have the vocabulary to be able to succinctly explain higher mathematical or scientific concepts. It's as plain as that. Also, the terms used are a bit nebulous and ambiguous at best, which is Not A Good Thing when learning about science.

Here I was, thinking there was some hope for Najib. I should've known better. I bet Lee and his cronies in Singapore are chortling into their pu-er (tea) right now. As someone who wishes only the best for Malaysia, all I can say is :: headpalm ::

I totally agree on that. I believe the experts(retired) should continue to groom the younger generation. ENGLISH is very important worldwide, and I think there is something wrong with the current education system in my country,MALAYSIA, as I was one of it's victim with a b c d selection education system. Students weren't given the opportunity to explore and express themselves be it written or verbal.  ~48~
