hi,

I border hopped for 8 years. And my feet still ache.    :-X

Strangely enough, since getting the MM2H visa I've more or less been out of Malaysia about every 3 or 4 months.

Since proof of income is via three months' worth of bank statements, isn't it possible to deposit around RM10,000 per month into your account for three months?

Thanks Scott for that reassurance.

I wonder if border hopping is still relatively easy to do?

So MM2H in Sarawak may be the answer, perhaps for wife and myself anyway

Is it a definite yes that Sarawak MM2H will allow you to live in Peninsula Malaysia also?

hi, kenny,

One thing that is common in Malaysia is different advice from different officers manning the same counter, answering emails, or on the phone.

And for non-Bahasa Melayu speakers sometimes things are "lost in translation."

Several of us have checked various points with Sarawak MM2H.

No member with practical experience of applying in Sarawak has posted on this forum. At least as far as I can recollect.

So, we have confirmation via email that a Sarawakian MM2H allows folks to stay in the Peninsula, but no practical experience.

But, if you apply in Sarawak you've got to be there so you can double-check on the spot. And anyway a Sarawak MM2H means a lovely place to stay and for a base.  Then, at the very least, you'd have 90 days to roam around the Peninsula.

btw, non-Sarawakian Malaysians only get 90 days stay in Sarawak.

As the OP, I felt I should round this topic off, by confirming I eventually obtained MM2H based on capital alone. The whole process was made remarkably easy through the good offices of Alter Domus in Penang.

Now, I can live happily for (almost) ever after! :)

Congratulations!

Would you mind sharing how you did it? I am in your exact same shoes, I am having some trouble proving income, and Yvonne from Joy is assisting me. I have stooped so low as to cherry pick some of my stock trades that 'prove' income since my verifiable sources of income (ie bank interest, dividends etc) do not meet the 10k p/m requirement.

To do it on capital alone I should not have a problem. I hope!

Hopefully you can shed some light on how I should go about this.

Thank you, and congrats again.

The reason I gave up on my initial enquiry, was the insistence on proving income as well as capital. As I understood it, you could apply with income or capital (the latter being the sole basis of my second attempt) and I believe that is still the case.

My application sailed through, with no problems of any kind. Hope you can sort things out along similar lines to me.

Regards.

Hi everyone,

Wife and I just beginning our mm2h process ..also with Yvonne at JoyStay- she is excellent by the way, very very helpful.
Its been pointed out clearly that we have to show the RM 10,000 per month for three months, plus the capital.

hi, snudgeo,

Thanks for the latest and congrats, that's great.

This is from the Direct Applications listing from the mm2h.gov.my site (still down so check out : [urlhttp://www.my2home.info/index.php/topic,2266.0.html]For the Record : New Application (DIRECT) 04 Oct 2011[/url]

Quote
12. Latest 3 months certified copies of pay slip / income statement ( If employed)/
pension slip etc.

And this is from the Terms & Conditions (refer : For the Record : Terms & Conditions 04 Oct 2011

Quote
ii. Applicants aged 50 and above may comply with the financial proof of RM350,000 in liquid assets and off shore income of RM10,000 per month.  For certified copy(s) of Current Account submitted as financial proof, applicants must provide the latest 3 months’ statement with each month’s credit balance of RM 350,000.

You need to show 3 months worth of statements in each case. I guess planning ahead helps to meet these stated requirements?

Other successful versions welcomed.

papaya, I have been told this is no longer the case.

As Scott helpfully pointed out, think its now 10k plus the capital

Sorry guys - I seem to have caused a bit of a stir. Yes, perhaps the rules were more flexible when I applied, or maybe not enough applicants. These things seem to change on a regular basis, sometimes from one desk to another in the same office! Anyway, good luck to all those now engaged in the struggle
