Michael Jackson died today aged 50

I know that its not related to Malaysia but I feel that this is one of those days that goes down in history. Argurably the greatest and most famous artist of our generation has died.

I woke up early this morning to the surreal news that Michael Jackson had died from a cardiac arrest. The way the news channels have been covering this is along the same lines as when other global icons such as Elvis, John Lennon, and Princess Diana died. Over the past 15 years I forgot how much his music meant to me and just 'tutted' whenever I heard about the plastic surgery, weird behavoir and court cases. Watching the clips brought back memories of my life in the early 80s onwards, the red leather jacket I bought, the white socks and patent leather shoes and of course trying to copy his dance movies at the local discos! Its very rare that I shed a tear, for me personally this is a truly sad day

Next time you hear the phrase ' The Biggest Star/Band in the World' attributed to other artists, please bear in mind that just two of Michael Jacksons albums 'Off the Wall' and 'Thriller' have combined worldwide sales of approximately 100million and throughout his career his record sales top 750million!

And one thing that made me really think hard:

Yuri Geller was interviewed this morning on the BBC (very upset) he recalled spending time with Michael Jackson not long after the child abuse case. Michael asked him if he could help him to give up something, I can't recall exactly what it was - Yuri Geller said 'no problem I'll hypnotise you'. While Michael was hypnotised, Yuri did something highly unethical, he asked Michael if he had ever abused or acted inappropriately with child (maybe like myself and most others we had our suspicions) Michaels answer to this was catergorically no, asked why he paid off Jordy Chandler, he stated that he just couldn't take the stress anymore, he wanted it all to go away.

Yes....sad news indeed.

We saw him live in Budapest of all places, 13 years ago.

What is your favourite track and album of all he ever produced?

My favourite album (like many) has to be thriller, launched in 1982. That one album sold more than 50 million copies....never mind all the 'boot-legs'! Check it out HERE

Favourite track? there are so many but probably 'Billie Jean' and both the albums 'Off the Wall' and 'Thriller' hold special places in my heart. N saw me cry for the first time today, I tried to explain to her how his music and dress sense etc helped to shape my life and in some way made me who I am, I suppose you had to be there (in the 80s) to understand!!

No doubt he was a great singer but a weird little bugger. The ones who will miss him most are the hangers-on who have made a fortune out of him. I heard on the BBC that it is estimated that he is in debt to the tune of $300 million. Never mind jackson my heart is breaking - the Lions robbed in South africa again!!
