Could I ask georgeshooter if he knows whether UK police forces have a DUTY to provide an LGC [assuming the applicant is clean of course], or whether it is just a favour?  Also, do you have to go to the County or Regional level for it, or can the local copshop in a small town handle it?  Do the circumstances vary around the country, or are they properly geared up nationally for this?  Thanks.

I've recently received my emailed copy of the Conditional Letter dated 3 September 2009 and the conditions attached are as follows:

3.1 Social Visit Pass Fee
3.2 Letter Of Good Conduct from Police Dept. (Country of Origin)
3.3 Fixed Deposit Certificate for MM2H
3.4 Letter to Confirm the said Fixed Deposit from the Bank for MM2H
3.5 Medical Report
3.6 Health Insurance

I used Joy-Stay semi-DIY as agent so I presume I will have to comply with the above conditions when we arrive in KL next month. She has my LGC on file.

So... confusion reigns.  The LGC was not required at Stage 1 despite Joy-Stay requesting it?  So, does that mean that your LGC is now out-of-date?  Has Joy-Stay commented on this?

3.2 Letter Of Good Conduct from Police Dept. (Country of Origin)

This is worrying.  I want to rely on PCC/LGC from Thai police, not UK.
Anyone any thoughts?

Don't know...I've just seen the 21 day requirement...so I'll email Joy-Stay and ask.

Cheers Davita - oh... and congratulations  ~14~ ~14~ ~14~ on the approval!!

Feebee, we checked with the agent about "country of origin" and the agent asked MoTour about it.  They apparently said that, if it was difficult to get the LGC from your country of origin (eg if you weren't living there), then they would accept a LGC from other country you have lived in.  That's what we have done.  See if we get the approval huh?

Indeed, but if all goes to plan I will probably apply before you get your approval, unless they are unusually quick.  I just hope that being away for 12 years will qualify me, or I'm in deep doodoo.

Papaya...thanks for the congrats...we are excited and will visit next month to get the visa.

Joy-Stay has confirmed that my LGC was on file with MM2H and has already been approved...I re-read the copy and she is correct...MM2H Immigration did confirm it was attached on-file.

hi,

Congratulations Davita, and let us know your experiences with the visa collection, which should be a piece of cake.

The MoTour site states that the LGC is to be submitted at STEP 2 : SUBMIT APPLICATION TO MM2H CENTRE OR THROUGH APPOINTED AGENT

MM2H Immigration did confirm it was attached on-file.

But, according to Davita's posting, looks like you can forward it at Stage 1 if you so wish.

That actually seems quite sensible to me as, if you were say in the UK and it seems that the LGC can take quite a long time to get it there, may actually be easier to get it first?  I dunno, I'm trying to think this through and getting quite a headache.

Perhaps it is REQUIRED by Stage 2, but CAN be validly submitted and accepted at Stage 1 if the applicant wishes?

If so, it would be nice, because then you could be not be caught out by a validity period later.

hi,

You're getting your Steps and Stages mixed.

The MoTour site changed it's Stages into Steps.

Step 1 Pre-Submission (whatever this may mean)
Step 2 Submit Application

The LGC is listed as one of the 14 items required.

Step 3 Conditional Approval Letter issued.
Step 4 Applicant comes to Malaysia.
Step 5 Applicant submits Remaining Documents.
Step 6 Applicant collects the Visa.

So the LGC is part of the application submission.

Hi Feebee, the local police force will issue anyone who applies with the "LGC" though they will stress that it is not a LGC but an information  of police computer on you. Fee is GBP10 per person. I just phoned and they email me the application form. I'm sure you can get it on the website too, which I had posted before though you need to search as its was one for US, Aust and Canada. I'll have a look around and post the url later

Letter of Good Conduct = Subject Access can be obtained from the local police force. In my case , its www.nottinghamshire.police.uk
Hope this helps Feebee

Thanks George, will check it all out.  As you can see from this thread, LGC is proving a difficult subject and the more info we can get, the better we can deal with it.
