Letter of Good Conduct - Query
« on: April 05, 2011, 04:33:45 PM »
I may be missing something blindingly obvious here, but I can find no 'announcement' or caveat regarding the 21 day rule, information that seems to have come via Joy-Stay, on either the MM2H (looked under T&C, announcements and the documents list under direct application) or even the Joy-Stay site?  Is anyone aware of anywhere this requirement is actually listed officially??  I have emailed the office with a query about this as it is very pertinent to my impending application (e.g. if there is no 21 day rule I can apply when I visit), if the 21 day rule is in being, it will have to be after I get back (consolidation of bank funds and all that means I can more easily, less statements etc, meet the liquid asset criteria on 8 May).

Posted this under LGC - General but not sure if it might get missed.

hi, Atilla,

Is anyone aware of anywhere this requirement is actually listed officially??

I've never seen the 21-day item listed on the mm2h.gov.my website. Or anywhere else.

Me neither.  I've been contacted by someone who used another agent who said within that year was good enough.  I have emailed MM2H direct for some clarification and will see what they say (if they answer).  It may well be that they see no need to update the site because it is not one of THEIR requirements.  Maybe the agent suggested it just to cover their backs/cut down and admin from LGCs that were 1+ years old that people still have???

hi, Atilla,

I'm sure that all agents have their own ways of processing the application. And the majority of agents charge a reject fee.

I know that Joy-Stay does not charge an administration fee if an application is rejected because they won't put in an application unless they're confident that it will pass.

So I guess that to avoid abortive work Joy-Stay needs to make doubly sure that everything is going to pass so they have their own need-by dates to fit into whatever processing system they use.

This isn't meant to sound like an ad, and I just can't be bothered to contact Joy-Stay and make enquiries. If anyone has used Joy-Stay and can clarify, please do us all a favour and post.

Hi,

I don't know about any 21-day rule, but Joy Stay has said that the LGC needs to be dated no more than 3 months before the date of the submission for MM2H.

We used Joy-Stay and they said 21 days but, as Scott has mentioned above, maybe that was just their own rules as they guarantee getting the visa, once they have accepted you.  But we're over one year on now, so the rules could have changed anyway I suppose.

It certainly looks like there is no 21 day rule, or certainly not that is stipulated by the MM2H office. I did mail them and had a reply from an agency (backhander referral??) and this agency said LGC is valid for one year.

Somewhat bizarre and confusing that those who set the rules refer enquiries to those who interpret them??????

Hi Atilla.

For what its worth. We did our own application and initially we agonised over the paperwork etc and posted it all off. Things bounced along slowly, as we didn't have everything right, until we went to KL and up to the office (Level 23, Menara Dato' Onn, Putra World Trade Centre). We found the ladies there were extremely helpful and happy to take the time to sit down and go through the whole thing with us. Once they had explained everything to us (and at the same time we got a contact person to deal with,) all went very smoothly without hassle.  O0

Thanks.  Won't be a problem IF I can do it while I'm there.  Like a pillock though I read too much into this 21 day issue and assumed it was an MM2H criteria.  As such I didn't bother applying for the LGC as my bank consolidation means I don't meet the criteria in a way that's easily provable until 8 May.  As it is I could have applied for the darned LGC 2-3 months ago and had it it my hand, allowing to me to apply on 8 May while in Malaysia.  The police said they'd do what they can but it is close to a 30 day turn round at times and they have 13 days :(

Don't know why I failed to check this more thoroughly before really.  Always best to get it from the organ grinder and not the monkey, the monkey in this case being an agency introducing their own rules.  God enough reason for me not to use an agent, or at least that one.  The process is bureaucratic enough without agents creating their own pressures and deadlines for people to meet.

It's not big deal really as I can always apply by post when I get back.  Just a pain as I needn't have had to do that.  It is quite clear at the moment that this 21 day rule for the LGC IS NOT an MM2H requirement!!

Never mind lah.

Still will not do any harm to go in to the office and meet the girls....agent or no. You will probably gain browny points and most important get a contact, so that in  the event you then apply direct by mail, you will get it all right and have a helping hand in the office, who will answer all the questions you forgot earlier!!

Good luck

Yep, stuff all I can do about it now.  Mental note made to check the facts for myself earlier in future.  One of those cases where the usefulness of forums backfired.  Check, check, and check again - and check with those that make the rules, not agents that interpret them, or make up their own!!!  Not a happy bunny right now  >:(
