Certified copy(s) of 3 months of bank account
« on: June 21, 2009, 03:36:47 PM »
First question - who is supposed to "certify" the bank accounts?  The bank?  What if your bank(s) is in another country?

Second question - what if you've got the bulk of your income coming in in 6 month chunks?  3 months of statements may show zero income.  Will they be happy with 6 months of statements?

hi,

From the Motour site :

Quote
11. Certified copy (s) of latest 3 months’ bank statement /other related financial
document (s) to indicate the financial capability to support stay in Malaysia;

12. Latest 3 months certified copies of pay slip / income statement ( If employed)/
pension slip etc;

I've always assumed that the 3 months is the required minimum, so if you've got more, then it must be OK.

The certified bit refers to the photocopy. As in "I certify that this is a true copy."

It's just as you have to have "certified" copies of your passport. You can get the bank to certify it's a true copy, which I did, or get the notary who is doing your passport to do it all.

The description "certified" does not refer to probity. It's assumed that if it's got your name on it, and the bank/company/etc then it's bona fide.

regards, Scott

As for us ....Direct applications launched March 2009 / approved May 2009
our bank offer E-statements ...
so we just printed the last 3 months required and stated ourselves that they were original, because they were ...

we didnot have any problem....

I think you were lucky and probably did a DIY application. According to my agent the above is NOT acceptable and they would not submit.

hi,

Reputable agents will not put in an application unless the documentation is exactly what they know will be approved.

At one stage, MoTour was talking about removing those agents from the approved list who have a high number of failed applications. Nothing happened as the approved list got longer.

not sure about what to say to you ....

I had used them twice for immigration purposes ( Malaysia and Brasil )
and they were accepted each time..
What is the difference between a monthly statement you receive printed by your bank or a monthly pdf statement you download and print yourself...

HSBC - SocGen -   just to name a few all have/use and recommand E-statements ....just as Citibank

My agent just now sent me the following e-mail:-

"We write to inform you that we received confirmation from the Ministry of Tourism that you may submit quality colour print outs of your bank statements from the internet . Kindly make sure that they are clear colour print outs and do not fade. The e-bank statements do not need to be certified."

Maybe the M of T keep an Eye on this forum...You think?

Thats another small victory David. Our application had to be bank originals. I think this was because of the variables in the system at that time. The biggest variable was the attitude of the person viewing the application. Was it breakfast time, lunchtime or time to go home, my agent said dont take a chance do it properly first time then no chance for rejection.

It looks like a new and professional outlook now. Well done to the ministry for improving things.

what's the best way to present a large certificate of deposit to the mm2h folks? bank does not sent statements for these certificates. only think you have is the original "certificate". obviouley they will need more than that to show the 3 month continuation, right? any suggestion, I am thinking right before applying get a letter stating you have the cd and is still there?

hi, moro66,

Assuming that the purpose of the large FD is to show the required cash-in-the-bank, I'd get a certifed copy of the FD. I'd also get a letter from the bank to verify the existence of your FD and account.

When I applied I showed bank statements certified as true statement by the bank. The statements had my name and address on them which tallied with the address on all the other stuff - so it was all verifiable.

Another friend of mine has a savings passbook with Maybank in Singapore. He  tells me that he got the bank to photocopy the last 3 months worth of account balances and then got the bank to certify them as accurate and true copies of the passbook. At first the bank refused but he insisted, a few times, and they then looked for the right stamp.

Verifiable seems to be the main concern these days, this is my 2 sens worth. Check out :Stricter Documents

We would be in the same situation. Our money is in savings passbook accounts in China and they never issue statements so now I know it is still possible to get this verified and accepted... O0

hi, rogerluli,

Welcome to the site.

From reading between the lines of various posts, and comments with friends about "stricter documents" the big point seems to be verification.

I suppose it's due to the ability of anyone with a computer, printer, and imagination, to create any document.

If I was applying now I'd get the bank manager to include a letter verifying the account, my name etc. and giving the period in years for which the account has been held.

Verification of your bank statements can be printed from your account online.
The printout is date stamped at the bottom of each page and is acceptable for MM2H purposes without the need to be further verified by a bank manager.
The trick is to printout only a few days before submission. This then means that it is current.
That was my procedure with Yvonne at Joy-Stay last year.

Atilla,

No, you are the one confused. They do have to be certified.
