Seniors (over 55 yrs) Can Get Discount On The Following
« on: June 18, 2009, 06:30:20 PM »
hi, bazzaman,

I didn't know us seniors could get 50% off train tickets! That's great. Are there any other senior discounts?

I don't think you are a golfer Scott, but many clubs offer discount for Seniors (if not every day then on certain days of the week).

I think most cinemas offer seniors discount (again at certain times & certain days).

Let's hear from others and we can build up a list. f.wink
I used to indecisive....but now I am not so sure!

Here in Penang I get senior discounts at the movies, the gym and best of all, at many many restaurants here.

hi,

Thanks FCS for starting a new topic. I'm not used to being a senior, as I'm only 62 this year. I always think in terms of the UK's 65 pensionable age, but I suppose it's closer to 67 now.

In Malaysia, it's 55 is it? Jeez, early middle age. Anyway I've been called "uncle" several times, and I've not yet had anyone say "grandad."

It must be the botox.   ;D

Discounts in restaurants! Great. How do you manage that one? I've never thought of it before.

Marginally off topic,

I went to the Chiangmai night safari with the family last year, my sons wife got a discount for being Thai (she is :)), my son got a discount for being Thai (he isn't :-X) my wife got a discount for looking Thai (she doesn't ???) when it came to my turn the nice lady said you get a discount for being old (I'm not >:()

Don't you just love Thailand

Steveso, please send a list of restaurants with discounts for old guys ASAP

Haha, Bob.... ;D ~2funny

When we first came to Peneng, Berjaya Hotel at Pulau Tikus used to have a buffet. At the end of the meal waiter came with the bill and quietly asked my hubby " are you a senior?"
Hubby asked him, " what's defined as being a senior?"
Waiter said, "anyone over 55".
Hubby said, "Ya, I'm a senior"....now looking so pleasantly surprised.
Waiter said, "then you get a 50% discount"... and now hubby smiling from ear to ear ;D
Waiter did not ask me and I thought maybe he'd presume I too am a senior and I would get the same discount.
Visa bill came and I was not given a discount  :(
As we walked out of the hotel, hubby said maybe I need to look baldy like him then the waiter would ask me ;D

Tg Bungah Hotel gave us both discount for our meals in the restaurant. We haven't been there for a while.

If you ever make a trip to Genting Highlands, check out the lunchtime buffet at The Coffee Terrace.
Normal price RM50++ is cheap enough, but seniors (they don't check ID) get 50% off.
Make sure you are hungry as they have Western, Chinese, Japanese, Indian plus all the local favourites, all freshly prepared. Save some room for desert as the cakes are to die for!!!

Thanks. Good timing. I will be going there soon and will definitely look it up. It sounds like a great deal with good food.

So how do you get the discounts?  Do you have to ask?  We've only eaten in one pukka restaurant so far and they didn't give us a discount.  The rest of the time we've been in food courts so I don't suppose you get a discount there - already cheap (apart from the wine  ;))

I usually don't ask. The wait staff usually asks my age and tells me there is a senior discount. At one place, which I frequent, they suddenly starting giving me and my party a 10% discount. I haven't received any discounts at the higher end restaurants though and I won't hold my breath waiting for one.

hi,

Hello, Albert and Mano, and welcome to the site. You're right, RM50++ with 50% off for seniors is great value for a restaurant buffet.  :)
