Great news that you're are flying into Malaysia and getting the FD. You'll love it here.

Remember, you need to think about where the interest is going to go. I've posted on this before but as it's important I'll post again here.

The default for banks is to add the interest to the capital (capitalised). This means that, as the FD is meant to be maintained, you'll not be able to get your hands on the interest.

You need to instruct the bank to put the interest into your current/savings account.

The FD will be auto-renewal.
