Waiver for Medical Insurance
« on: May 15, 2009, 09:35:19 PM »
hi,

I've checked around several agents and have confirmed that Immigration does consider, and grant, a waiver for medical insurance where the applicant has been denied insurance based on either (a) age or (b) existing conditions, or both.

There's a standard letter that insurance companies issue. This letter is accepted by Immigration for both applications: the initial one, and all renewals.

So, if you can't get insurance and wish to apply for mm2h don't be put off, get the letter. And, if you're able to get insurance when you first apply for mm2h and subsequently have problems then the refusal letter will be accepted at renewal.

Your name and address needs to be on the letter. I also suggest your passport number.

I would suggest that in the initial application Covering Letter or the Letter of Intent to Renew, a paragraph be added along the lines of :

"Due to age/medical condition I have been refused medical insurance and I wish to apply for a waiver. I enclose the original of the refusal letter, dated DD/MM/YYYY, from XXXXXXX Insurance company."

IMHO, having medical insurance, even at a limited level, certainly seems like a good idea. For those unable to obtain health insurance via the normal insurance companies it may be possible to add some form of cover to a car insurance. I think that AA (Malaysia) offers an accident cover.

Perhaps other members have information, opinions or comments.

regards, Scott

If i am not mistaken, the insurance company will need to issue you with the rejection letter. Once you have the letter from the insurance company, then the chances of getting through can consider 99.9%.
