Extension Changes
« on: June 01, 2007, 01:27:01 PM »
The new motour MM2H site was put up yesterday.

The word, and requirements, for "renewal" have gone.

There's a single category, EXTENSION.

This is broken down into:

a). To extend to get the remaining period for those whose passport expired before the end of the 10-year period. There are no changes.

b). To extend after the 10-year period. There are no changes.

There's nothing about us 5-year holders. I'll email motour.

regards, Scott

Received a reply today from motour about the fact that the new site only details "extensions" and no longer refers to "renewals." Previously renewals had meant the 5-year visa, and extensions the 10-year visa.

Quote
Please be informed that the current site refers to the revised incentives for MM2Homers, where the multiple-entry social visit pass is approved for an initial period of ten years.  Those who intend to continue on the programme are deemed to be extending their participation and as such the relevant reference to this has been included on the revised website as "extension".

As for MM2Homers who were approved on 5-year visas, they may continue to renew their MM2H visas for five-year periods.   If you have any other query on MM2H programme, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Still not sure about the need for medical insurance. I'll ask later.

regards, Scott

Wow. I checked the motour site today, and there's now a section on renewals.

It's under "How to Apply." It wasn't there on June 1st. Unfortunately, I didn't copy the pages so I can't check.

It says:

Quote
Renewal of Social Visit Pass Under this programme

For participants who joined the programe before 1 April 2006 , renewal can either be submitted directly by the individual participant or through licensed company to Immigration Department , Putrajaya or The State Immigration Office which issued the initial Social Visit Pass.

The following documents are required for the renewal :

1 IM 55 Form
2 Copy of the old and new passport.
3 Copy of the fixed deposit certificate
4 Copy of the valid medical insurance.

So, according to the site now, those on the 5-year visa need medical insurance on renewal yet those on the 10-year visa don't.

Got a reply from motour to say that the renewals section on their website was added last week. Maybe this site's emails prompted the re-look. And motour responded, so that's not bad either.

Can anyone post the exact url.

Thanks fcs.

It's at the bottom of the "How to Apply" page - right at the bottom. It wasn't there on 1st June, and it appeared last week. I only noticed it because I usually email motour about discrepancies. The motour site is evolutionary.

Thanks Scott,

I note they state:

The following documents are required for the renewal :

1 IM 55 Form
2 Copy of the old and new passport.
3 Copy of the fixed deposit certificate
4 Copy of the valid medical insurance.

I wonder what I will need to produce as I qualified on pension income as I was in the over 50 category!!!
The rest is quite simple!

hi, fcs,

So far, in emails, motour has taken the approach that the rules that applied when the application was approved are the ones that will apply on renewal.

1.  Yesterday we went to Butterworth Immig Office to get the Extension balance of the remaining 5 yr.
Last year I did mine when I received my new passport, being the 'wife' they didn't give me the whole balance of 3 yrs, but just one yr. So this month when my husband recieved his new passport we went again - so now we both have the 2 remaining years.
Documents to bring: Old and New passports - also photocopies of the front page with your infos and photo (the old and new passports)  and the MM2H visa page; ...last yr I didn't make a photocopy of my old passport and had to run out to get that done, this time no running around.
a photo, completed form, copy of the FD Statement and payment.

2.  I asked at the desk when we collected the above, just to confirm about location for Renewal after the initial 5 yr. The officer at that window told me that has to be done at MoT!! Then, I went to the main window for Infos and Numbers, the 'Supervisor' was at her desk not far from the window - here I asked again, the supervisor heard me and told the officer at this window that I can get it done at the State Immig Office.

3.  I just noticed today at the MM2H website, Renewal After 5 yr Period: documents to bring **:....
what's the difference between 'Copy of Fixed Deposit' and Current Proof of Mthly Offshore Income/Fixed Deposit Certificate ? (see below)

**He should bring the following documents and payment:
Letter of intent to continue the Programme
 Passport
 Photocopy of Passport
 IM 55
Payment of RM 90 per year for the Social Visit Pass, payable to the Immigration Department.
 Copy of Fixed Deposit
 Copy of Medical Insurance
Current proof of Monthly Offshore Income/Fixed Deposit Certificate

BB

hi, BB,

Did you get everything done? Was your renewal for "West Malaysia and Sabah."

I've just copied this from the MoTour Site:

Renewal of Social Visit Pass Under this programme
For participants who joined the programe before 1 April 2006 , renewal can either be submitted directly by the individual participant or through licensed company to Immigration Department , Putrajaya or The State Immigration Office which issued the initial Social Visit Pass.

The following documents are required for the renewal :
1 IM 55 Form
2 Copy of the old and new passport.
3 Copy of the fixed deposit certificate
4 Copy of the valid medical insurance.

Extensions - After 10 Year Period
The applicants must be present in person at the Immigration Department of Malaysia and is required to bring the following documents:

Documents
1 Letter of Intent to continue stay in Malaysia under this programme
2 Passport
3 Photocopy of Passport
4 IM.55 Form
5 Payment of RM90 per year for the social visit pass fee, payable to the Immigration Department of Malaysia

Extensions - Change of Passport
This applies to those who did not receive the full duration of the 10-year Visa because of the short validity period of their passport at the time of approval and would like to receive the remaining period upon the issuance of a new passport.

The applicant must appear in person at the Immigration Department of Malaysia and is required to bring the following documents :

1 Old and New Passport
2 Photocopy of the New Passport
3 IM.12 Form ; and
4 Payment of RM90 per year for the the social visit pass fee, payable to the Immigration Department of Malaysia

So when the site is read there's no medical insurance or fixed deposits listed for extensions. And there's no RM90 fee listed for renewals. However when the New Application/Extension/Termination Document is downloaded then there's the extra requirements.

It's all pretty much the inability of MoTour to give directions, and to dot the eyes and cross the tees. If you ask me there's no difference between "copy of fixed deposit" and "fixed deposit certificate" except for being written by two committees that never meet.

I emailed MoTour about all these inconsistencies and didn't receive a reply. It was a couple of months ago. They simply can't work it out. They need help.

regards, Scott

Yes, Scott visa extended for another 2 years. Just took less than 2 hours from handing in forms to leaving the Immig Office.
Printed on the Visa page " Permitted to enter and remain in West Malaysia and Sabah until 30 Sept. 2009"
Now, I've to check periodically for any changes in the Renewal procedure by mid 2009.

That's the link where I got the infos from:MM2H website (http://www.mm2h.gov.my/apply.php) under Related Documernts on the left; New Application/Extension/Termination (1.2.2)

Is a renewal after your 10 years just a formality or do they make you jump through hoops and what is the percentage chance that you would not get another 10 years

And

At what point in your 10 year vise would you apply for the next 10 years

Cheers

This 10 year visa is some thing fairly new and it'd be about 9 more years before people are up for Renewal.
But, participants with the 5 year visa are already into the Renewal especially those that came when it was called the Silver Hair Program.
Ours is the MM2H 5 year program. I remember reading somewhere on the site about allowing 4 weeks. With ours expiring end of Sept/09, I think we'll renew by mid August that year.
I hope it's just a formality!

With our Extension not expiring till 30th Sept this yr, we went this week, the stamped date is based on 30thSept and not August.

 :)

Next week I hope to get the 2 year balance of my MM2H 5 year visa (new pasport).
Sure I'll bring copy of old and new pasport, but what puzzles me is:
1. IM12 form, where a sponsor's name need to be filled in. Is it a formality or do you need to bring the sponsor with you?
2. Yes or No copy of FD cert is not applicable, I applied for the income option. But I'm retired now and income does not meet requirements anymore, so I wonder what happens if they gonna discuss it.
Anybody experience in a similar situation?

hi, DannyB,

For those of us on the 5-year visa, I think that the sponsor bit is now a formality given that for a 1-year period no sponsor was required.

The issue of renewal for the income option is certainly something to clarify as it's not stated on the MoTour site. You could be one of the first, if not the first.

Maybe you need to email MoTour. However, if it's a policy decision that they haven't worked-out yet then you may not get any useful response.

Let's hope some other members have been through this and can share their experiences.

regards, Scott
