Need advice- Import car
« on: October 25, 2009, 12:40:51 PM »
Good morning everyone,

My application has been aprroved last Teusday. I intend to ship my car to KL from UK.

My question:

1) The MM2H dept told me, the letter will be ready only next week, collecting from my friend in Msia behalf of me. Mean, I have to go to immigration dept for endorsement visa? then only I can apply for AP?

2) Does anyone know, how long the AP will take for approval? because I had booked my air ticket on 23rd Nov to KL. The shipment will be leaving from UK on 14th Nov, the shipping company told me take about 2 to 3 weeks. Do I have sufficient time to apply all the documentations?

3) Any website that I can refer? or any form from Ministry of Finance? Can my friend apply for me?

Thank you very much and have a nice weekend.
Jonno

hi,

Congratulations on the approval. You have to go yourself to the Immigration Department to have the mm2h visa stamped in your passport.

I do not know how long the AP takes. Maybe other members will be able to assist you.

Dear All,
Finally, I got my car from UK after been tolerance from forwarder. Now, I have to pay expensive storage charged.
1) Apply letter of approval from Finance dept located at Putra Jaya Block C. - 10 to 15 days. (MM2H dept given wrong information of days for approval)
2) Apply for AP - 5 to 10 days. ( MM2H dept provided wrong form and website)
3) Clearnace from forwarder 5 days - for my case only, coz a doggy forwarder. (MM2H dept can't help us the heavy charges)
4) Puspakom (similar like MOT check) - 1 hour ( MM2H dept didn't write clear on this point)
5) JPJ car registered number and new registration card - 1 hour. (MM2H never tell us what we should do, provided wrong telephone number on website)

So, just bacareful the number of days, MM2H dept provided wrong information. almost 20+ days instead MM2H mentioned about 10 days. Otherwise heavy storage charged will be incured and your expenses will be run out of budget.
Have a nice day.

Congratulation Jonno! Good to hear that things work out at the end. Now you have your own ride anywhere you want to go. Stay safe and watch out for the crazy drivers!

Thanks everyone, Yes at last I got there.

My gosh, the drivers here are something else are they not. All the rules about driving I learnt in the UK over the 30+ years seem now not important. It seems the survival of the fittest !!!! hahahaha

Hope to meet some of you in KL sometime, take care everyone, I shall pop in here from time to time, to say hello.

Jon
