New Motour Site 01/06/2007
« on: June 01, 2007, 01:10:51 PM »
The motour MM2H site has been revamped (as first spotted by Penny at alloexpat). It's at:

www.mm2h.gov.my/index.php

Terms and conditions are the same, except the medical insurance requirement for renewal is gone because the whole renewal section is gone (well, I couldn't find it). It's all now known by the single word, "extension."

The personal bond form is back. It's the same one that was being used before it was dumped in April 2006.

There's an empty blog page.

regards, Scott

I've only just noticed that the 2-unit property purchase limit for my2homers has gone. Under "incentives" on the new site there's no limit given.

I'm checking this with MoTour.

Seems like the my2home programme is now following FIC changes.

I have found a couple of areas on the new Motour site that I think could do with improvement. I wonder what you all think.

  • When tracking an application you are asked to enter your MM2h number, as the number given to me was a long sting of alphas hyphens dashes and numbers I am not sure whether I am putting in the correct thing. The site doesnt give an example or correct you if you do it wrong. As a result I have tried many different combinations with no success. Even if you get it wrong you are then asked to enter your passport number. May be a bit of help would be good here.

When an application is rejected it would be easy to classify the area of rejection i.e. "insufficient information" "invalid or unacceptable documents" "financial criteria" etc. This would help tremendously in the preparation of an appeal. Currently no information is given at all, even when a submission purely requires clarification.

I sympathise fully on this. I have few contacts with motour or immig, but perhaps those who do could lobby on this very point. Once again I am sure the reason for this is due to the wealth of 'spurrious' applications that have been received over the past year or so from people who are not 'MM2H desirables'

I was really meaning that the functionality of the website is poor. However I think you are right about the spurrious applications. I read the data about applications that had been successful but there was nothing about rejections and appeals.

One good point though, I received a reply almost immediately to the site feedback I sent. Their reply was polite and very interesting:

We would to apologies on the inconvenience caused. Please provide us your MM2H reference number and we will check it for you. For those applications that have been rejected, we preferred the applicant to email to us and we will keep them informed the reasons of rejection.

Now that is an improvement. All my souces to date have said that they never give feedback, maybe things are changing

I emailed MoTour last week to ask about rejection figures to go along with the approval figures for Jan to June 2007 (as posted in Reply #29 of Re: Latest Performance Figures)

I haven't received a reply on this. However, by accident, I received an internal MoTour email about ME (yep, moi) that was obviously supposed to be sent to someone else. It said, "we have discussed this case before." Wow, seems that I'm now a CASE.

I also emailed MoTour about the discrepancies on their site regarding limits on property purchases (the above post Reply #1 June 23rd 2007) but after 2 weeks - nothing.

hi,

I never did get an email response on "rejection figures" or even on the mistake on the MoTour site about property purchase.

I've realised that this MoTour site isn't just to inform folks about the programme but it's being used by MoTour as the only public vehicle to show policy changes, or changes to administrative procedures. In fact they aren't clearly stated, they are just slipped in as a change, or an addition.

The only other way that MoTour seems to announce changes is at the quarterly agents meeting, and to those agents present.

It would help if they even had an indicator as to when the site was last updated. I suggested this some time ago in an email, and got a response that this suggestion would be considered......of course that is as far as it ever went. (TIM)

Just an update re the Motour Site

Although I haven't received any response from motour regarding the functionality of the website. (Posted on this thread July 18th) the suggested changes seem to have been made.

"Application Status" search now works and shows examples of the data required. You can search by name, Immigration Ref No  or MM2H Ref No. You will require your passport number.

I found mine first time and although it doesnt give much useful information you can at least see if the application has been processed. Unfortunately this is not updated to show any appeal information.

It is possible that the site was working some time in the past but was subject to some kind of error. It's working now Yippee!

hi, Shirley,

MoTour sends out a letter of approval.

Maybe you need to email them and ask when you will be receiving this. I don't know how long it takes between confirmation from the site, and receiving the letter.

You have 6 months to come to Malaysia and collect the visa.

Other members have recently been approved and they may be able to offer some direction.

Basically you need to sort out (a) the Fixed Deposit, (b) Medical Insurance, and (c) the Medical Form. A starting point would be to read up on these on the relevant boards, and if you're not sure then post a question.

regards, Scott
