Dear All,
First of all, thanks for the contributions from all of you. We have finally obtained the Approval Letter, the Social Visit Pass, the iKAD, the Malaysian's drivers license and placed a booking for a Honda CRV.
Would like to share some of our experience with new applicants:-
a/ Security Bond - Some immigration officers and MM2H one stop center staffs are confused that the security bond is not only applicable to the main participant but all dependants as well. In our case, we only provided them with a bank draft of RM 1,500 for the main applicant and spouse. At first, the immigration did not accept bank draft as they said they only accept cash now. After some friendly exchange, they realized that the information at the official MM2H wedsite has not been "updated", and they accepted our bank draft as payment. I visited the MM2H one stop center today and I was told that one Korean couple was asked to pay by cash and not accepting their bank draft recently. So, the new regulation is .... Cash for security bond!
b/ Medical Insurance - AIG does not offer Riggit Net policy anymore and they will not issue policy on the spot as before. They now offer a Safe & Smart Medical Care plan and we obtained 2 certified true copies of the insurance proposal in 45 minutes. It then did the trick after presenting 1 copy of the proposal together with the receipt.
c/ iKAD - Upon receipt of the Social Visit Pass on Aug 14, we submitted our iKAD applications immediately even we were being told that they are not sure when iKAD will be available for collection. Today (Aug 19), we went to the MM2H immigration and picked up our iKADs after receiving a phone call from them!
d/ Malaysian Driving License - For countries entitled for automatic conversion, it is a very simple process. It only took us half an hour at the JPJ in getting our new Malaysian Driving License. They only offer a 1 year license for the first time and a 5 year one upon renewal.
e/ Vehicle Purchase - Seems we can only get RM500 discount after calling a few car dealers in KL area. With a 6 year No Claim record, I was entitled to 55% discount from both MSIG & ING.
Cheers!
