Thanks Poul.  That is helpful.  Re bank accounts, I was thinking of interest earned, which is partially what we live on.  It would seem from your comments that a combination of accounts in both or either names is acceptable.

If anyone else can confirm, that would be reassuring  :)

When we submitted our application we provided copies of all our bank accounts and income receipts having previously confirmed with our agent that a sort of dual application would be acceptable.

It obviously was, as we received approval.

Dear All,

1) An applicant may include the spouse’s income and cash in bank in the MM2H application as long as the spouse is in the same application.

2) As an MM2H agent, we always encourage applicants to include their spouses’ income and cash in bank in order to strengthen their financial status.

Hope the above is helpful.

Best Regards,
Yvonne Lim

Hi All

I have been wondering for quite awhile about this 10,000RM a month income. What happened if it drops due to the currency exchange?  :'(

This question raises a related issue. Once the appliction is approved and MM2H visa obtained, is income  and income sources monitored? If not then presumably unfavourable currency fluctations won't matter (until renewal comes up?). Perhaps established MM2H'ers can advise.

hi,

The RM10,000 is a requirement for the application, at the point of application.

There's nothing in the rules about it being maintained. When it comes to renewal of the visa the experience of folks on the forum is that the authorities only need to see the FD not any monthly income stuff.

The renewal requirements also only refer to the FD and do not require any RM10,000 evidence.

There is no monitoring of the RM10,000 monthly income.

PK, With the way the US dollar is dropping this is a concern for me.  My government pension provides an annual 3% COLA (Cost Of Living Adjustment) each July (It will drop to 2% in 2011) and I am hoping this keeps me above the 10000 Pension minimum.  If not, I'm toast.  I didn't have the savings back in 2007 (or now) to qualify under any option but the Pension one...Jim, USA

Phew! that is a relief. Right now the Aussie $ is strong and so that is good for Aussies but wait till it comes tumbling down.  :o

Not so good for the spending power then.  :(

I also wondered why 10,000RM. I/we can live quite comfortably on that amount here let alone in Malaysia ie if we do not have to service the mortgage or rent. Just living expenses.

Then there's probably an argument for applying now while you meet the requirements pension-wise?

papaya, Interesting thought but I don't think one can apply for an extension or renewal until the year the current visa expires (that's still a few years away for me).  Anyone know for sure?...Jim

sorry JR I didn't realise you already had MM2H so wasn't quite what I was thinking.  Though that's a thought - can you renew/extend during the term of MM2H?   I wonder if Scott knows.
