Nazlink's DIY
« on: March 10, 2009, 10:22:51 PM »
Hi Scott,
I Am a Sgp Citizen trying to apply for mm2h. Is the sponsor still required. I am a bit confused as i intend to apply on my own. I have all the requirements except the sponsor. If the sponsor form is not required, how do we also fill in the sponsor portion on form 12??

Thanks a lot :)

hi, nazlink,

Welcome to the site.

MoTour has earlier confirmed that applicants who submit directly to them do not need to submit the Personal Bond Form.

The bit that hasn't yet been clearly sorted out is the bit that you are asking about, the sponsorship section on Form 12.

I have sent an email to MoTour to specifically ask about this. Meanwhile perhaps there is a member who knows.

regards, Scott

hi, nazlink,

I have checked around and I understand that on the IM12 Form it needs the signature of the Applicant or Sponsor. As it stands at the moment you sign, and leave the Sponsor bit blank.

I'll post the formal reply from MoTour when it arrives. If you have any other questions please.

regards, Scott

Thanks Scott ,
I will wait for your official reply. I have 1 more query. I have already purchased a property in JB. So can i include a copy of the sales & purchase agreement. I also wish to ask about the certification. Is it possible to get my documents for my property certified true copy by my solicitor in JB? Any payment required when submitting the application (Step 1) in PWTC?

Thanks a lot

hi,

The change to allowing DIY was only made 2 months ago so there are bound to be a few areas where we're not too sure. This site relies on feedback from applicants like yourself who are going through the process so that you can let us know what actually happened.

We all did it 2 or 3 years ago.

1). You can get all your stuff (passports etc.) certified in JB. It's probably cheaper than Singapore.
2). Include the S&P. It shows evidence of commitment.

By the way. If the property you have purchased is from a developer have you checked if the developer can do the application for you FOC.

3). There is no charge for submitting the application.

4). Normally when the application is approved you place the FD and leave it for 12 months. After this initial period you can apply to MoTour to use some of the FD for property purchase. As you have already bought the property if you want to use the FD funds you'll need to discuss/clear this up with MoTour when you put in your application. MoTour will accept earlier than normal property purchase but it depends how much earlier.

Maybe some other members can assist on this.

Which option are you applying under?

regards, Scott

PS : It's probably better to have this as a separate thread so I'll split this topic into Nazlink's DIY

hi, Nazlink,

I have today received an email reply from Motour which states :

With regards to the sponsor column in Form IM 12, it is to be left blank by direct applicants.

Hi Scott,

I have not been in touch with motour recently.

Are the same people responding to you (Cindy Lim etc), and are they responding quite quickly?

hi,

It's the same people with a response of 2 or 3 days. Very good, and always polite.

They refer to DIY as Direct Applicants. I think that I'll adopt the same. It's obviously more appropriate and specific than Do-it-Yourself.

It's the same with cheap agents. I stopped using this phrase a long time ago because it can be derisory and misleading. I now always use Value-for-Money. Longer but more accurate.

Thanks for that,

I think you are quite right, words are important and some more immotive than others.

Also I think motour deserve a "well done" for removing the confusion over sponsors.

Thanks very much Scott. Are you sure i can certify my passport in JB and not in Singapore. It costs $5 - $10 to certify true copy by a lawyer.

I'll be going to submit my application by next month.

hi,

At S$5 - S$10 it's cheaper in Singapore. You need all the pages in the passport. Mine (British Passport) cost RM50 in Perak so I don't see why you can't get yours done in KL if you know someone there.

It has to be certified by a public notary. Maybe other members have ideas on this.

On the MM2H site it also says copies can be certified by a solicitor. From experience i have found them to less expensive than notaries who tend to charge by no. of signatures. Has anyone tried getting copies certified by the high com/embassy here in London??

It's $5 to $10 per page of certification of true copy. In my understanding only the particulars page of me, my wife & 2 children need to be certified by a solicitor/notary. Copies of all endorsements are needed but not certified.
So if i want to certify my family's passport of all pages including the immigration stamps, it may cost $400.
If its only the particulars page, then it may cost just $20. (4 person passport).

I intend to go on April 10. Is it a public holiday in KL?

This is from MM2h website.

Copy of Passport/Travel documents ( all pages) with certification on the pages
with personal particulars;

Hi Scott,

It seems that there are some changes to the MM2h website and there are some new application criteria.

Now, there is a online facility to immediately check if you are eligible and an online application facility.
Could you assist to verify if i can apply online instead of going down to KL?

7. Letter of Good Conduct from your relevant government agency ;

8. Self declaration on your/dependents health conditions - Form can be downloaded from MM2H website;

13.Authorization letter from applicant to Malaysia My Second Home Centre to
verify the financial documents with the relevant financial institutions;

These 3 conditions from http://www.mm2h.gov.my/applydirect.php seems new.

Please advise.

1) Where can i obtain this Letter of Good Conduct ? Item 7.

2) Which relevant Government Agency are they referring to? Item 7.

3) Where can we obtain this health declaration form? Item 8.

4) Is there any format for this authorization letter (item 13.) Or are we just required to type out a letter by ourselves to allow verify the financial documents with the relevant financial institutions.

Rgds

hi,

Thanks for the post Nazlink. You're right, these are all new. This means that no-one knows what's what until someone makes an application and let's us all know how it goes. Usually MoTour will also need to get used to anything new.

So we can only surmise :

7). Letter of Good Conduct from your Relevant Government Agency.

I guess this means a police (?), or some such report that says you've not been in jail, or whatever. Anyone else got any ideas.

8. Self declaration on your/dependents health conditions - Form can be downloaded from MM2H website.

The only form that I can find is the one that's been used for the past few years. I also can't find anything to download.

4) Is there any format for this authorization letter (item 13.) Or are we just required to type out a letter by ourselves to allow verify the financial documents with the relevant financial institutions.

I can't find any format. I'm not a lawyer, however I suggest the following as a basis :

As part of my current application for the MM2H visa, I authorise the Malaysia My Second Home Centre to verify the submitted financial documents with the relevant financial institutions.

If you're using a lawyer then get them to draft something and post here. If we find anything else we can post. If there's a format we'll probably find out soon.
