Gin's Questions
« on: February 10, 2009, 09:37:04 AM »
Hi members

I am a Malaysian living in the US holding a greencard and my husband is a US citizen. We are thinking of applying for the MM2H program but not very sure if it's the right move.  Currently, we do have family members living in PJ. I would appreciate very much if someone could provide some advice for the following questions.

1) Is the FD150,000 ringgit apply to one person or a couple?
2) I am still holding Malaysian passport, can I apply for the MM2H program or is better to become US citizen before applying?
3) Is there anyone out there ship their stuff through container when they moved to M;sia? Will there be any problem getting clearance at the custom?
4) What is the average health insurance cost for someone aroung 66 yrs old?

Thanks

Gin

hi, Gin,

I've put your post into a new thread.

Item 1). The RM150,000 applies to a couple.

Item 2). As you have a Malaysian passport, the MM2H is not necessary for you as you can already come, stay and go as you please. As of now, your husband (as a US citizen) is not allowed to apply for MM2H. However, the recent statement by the Tourism Minister says that this may change. So you'll need to wait and see what turns up. Also check-out : MM2H applicants who are married to Malaysians

Item 3). From my own experience, clearance wasn't a problem. Perhaps other members can add to this.

Item 4). You'll have to do an internet search for insurance information as many companies are not really interested in insurance for folks over mid-60s unless the premium is high. Try the AIG (Ringgit Net) policy, although this stops at 64 it can be extended. Check out the Insurance Board on this site : Medical Insurance Companies & Costs

regards, Scott

Hi Scott

Thanks for your prompt reply. Earlier I was reading the topic about getting pet into M;sia. The topic was 120 days old so it's better to ask the question here.

We have a yellow lab about 80 lbs. He is the love of the family. If we move to Msia, he has to go with us.

Is there anyone getting a dog this size from US to M;sia before?
Any one has the experience of moving from US to Msia? I would like to share their experience[/li][/list]

Thanks

Gin
