i-Kad
« on: May 23, 2007, 03:23:05 PM »
Hardly a major change, but leafing through my recent Star Newspaper cuttings I came across this. An announcement (14th March 2007) launching the i-Kad card, which seems to be an extension of last years MyKad introduction. The i-Kad is available for my2homers.

I think that this is a pretty good idea as it means I don't need to carry my passport for the numerous police road-checks (I ride a motorbike, and obviously am mistaken for a 60-years old angmo mat rempit).

Implementation though? probably when you collect or renew your visa. If anyone has info on this, please post.

regards, Scott

With a MyKad upgrade due to take place in July, will there be any hope for a resumption of MM2H I-kad? Its very tiresome not having one and having to carry Passport around.

To make life easier, we had a photography shop copy and reduce both our passport main page and MM2H page, placed back to back and laminated into a credit card size ID Card. Haven't tested this on officialdom yet, but it looks very professional. ^-^

As a matter of interest, where did you get this done. As this is exactly what my next door neighbour uses when he is in Spain for the same reasons.
Status - Currently back in Europe finalizing things for the move. Back in Penang permanently on Friday 23rd March 2012 :D

I have also copied and reduced my passport ID and MM2H, pasted back to back and laminated. I have used it to obtain Maxis Hotlink and they accepted it. Haven't used it for much else as I'm not often required to show passport when in Malaysia.

I confess a friend who has a photo shop in Oz did it for me, but I should think any photo shop could do it as its not rocket science and is very handy.
