What the Application Consists of
« on: May 02, 2007, 11:27:03 PM »
The my2home application has 2 parts.

The first part is for Conditional Approval. This is made at the Ministry of Tourism's One-Stop Centre at the World Trade Centre building in Kuala Lumpur.

You can hand deliver, or send by post. This application consists of:

1). A Covering Letter
2). 2 copies of Social Visit Pass Application Form (Form IM12), together with 2 copies of passport-sized photos.
3). Certified copy of pages of the applicant's passports. If the current passport is less than 1 year old, then certified copies of every page of the previous passport is required.
4). Certified copy of Marriage Certificate (if applicable).
5). Certified copy of each Child's Birth Certificate (if applicable).
6). Certified copies of financial proof of Sufficient Funds.
7). Certified copies of proof of Pension (if applicable).
8). Details of applicants' Employment/Business record over the past few years.

Once this is received by the Ministry of Tourism it will be photocopied for their records, and the original sent through to Ministry of Immigration. A reference number will be sent to the applicant.

After between 12 and 20 weeks, applicants will be sent a letter of approval/rejection. If it's rejection then you appeal, if you want to. Most letters are Approvals. The conditional approval letter starts the second part of the process.

This second part of the process is Visa Collection. Applicants are required to be in Malaysia within 6 months of the date of the Conditional Letter of Approval to fulfill the following:

1). Opening the Fixed Deposit account in any Bank in Malaysia. Certified copies of the FD are needed, and you have to take along these copies plus the originals to Immigration.
2). Getting the Medical Examination. The doctor can sign the form. Give the original to Immigration and keep a copy for yourself.
3). Purchasing Medical Insurance. A certified copy of the Insurance Policy is required by Immigration. If the applicant has an international insurance policy that is acceptable in Malaysia, it is not necessary to purchase a new policy.

Get the above together and go along to Immigration at the new HQ in Putrajaya. Your passports will have the visa stuck in, the length of the 10-year visa being whatever validity the passport has left (passport expires in 3 years - you'll get a 3 year visa. When the passport finally expires you go along with the new passport and get the remaining 7 years).

You pay a visa fee of RM90 per year for the number of years given. You pay this in cash at the Immigration Cashier's counter. Also for citizens from non Commonwealth countries there's an odd thing called "Journey Performed Visa Fee" of RM500.

regards,
Scott

Re: Journey Performed Visa Fee

hi,

I'm slowly going through all the post to make sure that they are up-to-date and as clear as possible. So this is just to explain the last sentence in the above post.

The Journey Performed Visa Fee applies only to applicants from a country that isn't in the Commonwealth, and where you would normally be required to apply for a "visa" before entering Malaysia.

People who require visas before entering Malaysia have to get this visa from an embassy, consulate or high commission in their home country or the nearest representative of the Malaysian government before coming to Malaysia.

However, as you can enter Malaysia without this "visa" and get a tourist social visit pass at immigration, you won't have paid for the "visa" so you'll be charged an extra RM500 journey performed fee.

This is from the MoTour Site:

Participants from selected countries who are entering Malaysia with Tourist Social Visit Pass prior to approval of Malaysia My Second Home programme are required to pay for Journey Performed Visa (JP) (RM500) . The payment should be make to Immigration Department Putrajaya before they get endorsement of Malaysia My Second Home Sticker in their passport.

regards, Scott

hi,

The MoTour website defines certification (for passport pages etc.) as:

Quote
Certification can be done by Notary Public/Commissioner of Oath/Government Official

Hi Scott,

Every solicitor in th UK is a Notary Public. This is something that changed a few years ago. Unfortunately many solicitors have mislaid thier official stamp for this purpose. Mine just commented that he was a notary public on the documentation.

It seems to have worked as I got my visa.

Here in Belgium you have to go to the local town hall for certification (depending on town and purpose of the certified copy they charge you aprox. 1 euro a page for a stamp and a signature!) When I went to ask they told me they're not allowed to certify passports and that I would have to go to the Malay embassy in Brussels. Called the embassy, and was told to make an appointment and that they would be pleased to certify the copies.

Hi All,

Over here in Austria , I had my passport copies, bank account copies and others were certified by the Notary Public. Also €1 per page.
And all my papers are in german, need to be translated. And all translated papers again certified by the translator. All together plus translation and certifiied costed me €780- .
I am happy with that because we get the visa.

Cheers,
Shirley.

In respect of the Journey Performed visa fee, my wife is Filippina, whereas I will be the MM"H applicant and am a British subject.  Accordingly will my wife be suject to this fee even though I am the MM2H main applicant?

All members of a family are subject to the RM90/annum visa fee
The trouble with taking the ‘middle of the road’ position is that you get run over from both directions.

hi, PaulM,

Wow, that's a difficult question. You don't pay the journey Performed Fee, but does your wife?

I think you'll need to email MoTour on this one. And then post the reply so we all know.

Sorry Paul,
I think I misunderstood the question. What is a 'Journey Performed'?
