Electric costs going up
« on: July 10, 2008, 09:00:19 PM »
Hi everybody...

after the petrol, now the announced increasing for electricity is out:

"Tenaga Nasional Bhd had announced that the new tariff would affect domestic households that consume more than 200 kWh (RM43.60 or RM0.218/kWh) per month. For the next 200 kWh, a consumer will have to pay RM69 (RM0.345/kWh) in addition to RM43.60.

For domestic households who consume more than 400 kWh per month, the first 500 kWh will cost RM150 (RM0.30/kWh). The next 100 kWh will cost RM39 (501-600 kWh), followed by RM40 (601-700 kWh), RM41 (701-800 kWh), RM43 (801-900 kWh) and RM46 for 901 kWh onwards.

For example, if a household consumes 600 kWh per month, its electricity bill will total RM189."

hi,

Thanks for the details, UdoC.

Here in Portugal I pay RM80 per month just to rent the electricity meter. The Portugese government (or the EU) has now deemed this to be illegal (charging for a meter) but I'm still charged. And there's going to be no re-payment of the illegal charges paid the past 22 years that I've had the property.

Such is the fairness of life.

I just thought that I'd add this in case anyone feels a bit short-changed by the Malaysian increases.

I have a stock of candles, not to save money but for the weekly blackouts. Instead of seeing (or not) the blackouts as an irritant, I'll now think of the cash saved - when I get back that is.

regards, Scott
