Sat Nav in Malaysia
« on: March 02, 2008, 05:00:13 PM »
Having used Tom Tom in the UK I would like to get the Malaysian equivalent

But I have yet to see anything in the shops

Has anyone managed to get Sat Nav?  If so is it worth getting here?

Thanks

Garmin do a selection of Vehicle Sat Navs, and they are available in Malaysia, but about 10-20% more expensive than if you purchase in Sim Lim City in Singapore.

I bought the Nuvi610 (top of the range model when I bought in Dec) in S'pore.

It comes with the Sing/Malaysia maps already loaded in a flash card. I also bought the maps for Thailand. The maps are not perfect (can they ever be with the pace of development & new road infrastructure?)....but they are improving. You also get a free map upgrade witin 12 months of purchase.

Check out the following url for details of a comprehensive range, but not all are available in Malaysia:

The trouble with taking the ‘middle of the road’ position is that you get run over from both directions.
