Cricket on TV
« on: February 22, 2008, 10:41:55 PM »
We are arriving in Malaysia next week and hope to have a rental home within the next few weeks.

One thing we would like to be able to see on TV is the England Cricket matches - both home and away games.

Is this available in Malaysia and if so what channels or subscription services will I need?

Thanks

Cricket is shown on the pay per view sports channel, available to any Astro subscriber (the only cable TV service here). I don't know if they offer all England matches, but at least some of them are shown. At the moment the England v NZ one day series is being shown as part of a package that includes the India v Australia v Sri Lanka series; it costs about MR160 if I remember correctly.

I'm not sure if they will show the summer England home series due to the time difference for live matches - as an English test match would start at 3.00am local time there may not be enough willing subscribers to make it worthwhile for Astro.

If you're a rugby fan, you'll be happy to hear that most of the 6-nations matches are shown live or delayed on one of the free sports channels. They also show some English and French club rugby.

And of course the Malaysians are crazy about English premier league football, which is also shown free.

regards,
John

hi, Sag,

Glas to hear that you'll shortly be in Malaysia, hope the move goes well. Enjoy the cricket, and the rugby.

regards, Scott
