I have finaly arrived in Malaysia after reading all the information and advice I   will be looking for property to rent first in Ipoh as a base between KL and Penang                                                                                                            Best Regards  David

Congratulations on getting here. Ipoh is a good central location with nearby Kangsar (royal town) and Taiping (bird-nest capital of Perak, plus old prison and zoo).

Plenty of coach connections north and south. There's a non-stop coach daily to Singapore. And it's got a Tesco.  Hope the settling-in goes well.

When you get settled in could you post some general thoughts and things on living in Ipoh, how you find things there, cost, facility's etc

HI JACK,rental for a small 3 bedroom apartment $400 a 2 bedroom terrace for $250 local standard,I have taken a 4 bedroom house in a local area, Ipoh has everything  as in any large town in Malaysia.Ipoh is alot cheaper eating out ,please ask if you have anything specify,please look at Scott's run down on the cost of living forum,by the way where are you living at present.
