Hi,

Our approval letter was dated 7 June and we received it on 21 June in the UK.

I believe it was sent within a few days of the approval showing up on the MoTour site.

Regards

Dave

hi, Shirley,

MoTour sends out a letter of approval.

Maybe you need to email them and ask when you will be receiving this. I don't know how long it takes between confirmation from the site, and receiving the letter.

You have 6 months to come to Malaysia and collect the visa.

Other members have recently been approved and they may be able to offer some direction.

Basically you need to sort out (a) the Fixed Deposit, (b) Medical Insurance, and (c) the Medical Form. A starting point would be to read up on these on the relevant boards, and if you're not sure then post a question.

regards, Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the reply. Can you recommend me any insurance company?I will downlaod the medical forms from the MoTour site.

Regards,
Shirley.

Hi Shirley,

We are also waiting for the letter. Our agent says it will be available tomorrow. Pretty quick really. We are booking our flight for November. Also interested in the insurance company.

Did you get my PM?

hi, DaveG,

Thanks for the post and the info.

I think that after approval by the Immigration Approving Committee, the letter gets done and sent to MoTour which copies it and sends it out.

I know that MoTour batches applications and sends them every 1 or 2 weeks to Immigration, and I imagine that Immigration also batches approvals for returning back to MoTour.

So we can now work on a notional 2 to 3 week period between online status approval and receiving the letter.

regards, Scott

Hi Scott,

That would appear to be about right as the actual letter came by DHL so there does not appear to be any postal delay.

Have found them and Emailed twice - but their Inbox is full and the Emails bounce back.  They reply to you ..... You must have an "IN" with them, Scott!    ;D

Sadly I think this site is also now dead. It's certainly not updated often. Currently it has the "Visit Malaysia 2007" banner still showing, and the last newspaper article featured is dated 14th Jan 2008!

An earlier article by Bernama dated April 10, 2006 it states the following:-

Procedures For 2nd Home Programme To Be Simplified

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- The Tourism Ministry is fine-tuning and simplifying applications and bureaucratic procedures to attract more foreigners to participate in the "Malaysia-My Second Home" (MM2H) programme.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said plans had been drafted to make its applications simpler, more attractive and hassle-free to foreigners.

He added that his ministry which just took over the programme from the Home Ministry on April 1, was setting up a one-stop centre to promote, process and to monitor all matters pertaining to the MM2H programme.

"The cabinet has given us the authority to take charge of the programme. It means that all applications will go through us and handled by us (Tourism Ministry)," he told reporters after witnessing the signing of a hotel management agreement between KL Metropolitan (M) Sdn Bhd and The Legend Group of Hotels and Resorts here Monday.

He said the new MM2H programme was expected to be relaunched soon.

To date, the programme, which was first introduced in 1987 under the name "Silver Hair" and was renamed as MM2H in 2004, had successfully attracted more than 8,000 foreigners to make Malaysia their second home.

In another development, Adnan said the ministry was putting together an action plan with all the key players in the tourism industry and state governments in attracting more tourists to venture out to other states, especially east coast.

He said the plan would include moves to develop more physical facilities in view of the tourists' influx next year.

"We also want to encourage more people to venture into the hotel and hospitality industry and refurbish their properties," he said.

The section in red is not even correct as the scheme was re-launched and re-named in 2002!

I have seen the 'Shakin that ass' one, (which I liked). Is this a new one?

No, not a new Ad - but still brilliant - as was the Bacardi Ads with the Cat.   Apparently some UK Ads are run in the USA in a whole programme as they can be so clever and amusing - very popular there I am told.     You can buy the Shakin' Ass ringtone for your mobile  :-0

Can you get good TV in Malaysia ?  - My Mother loves her TV Documentaries, Animal Programmes, History Channel, Discovery Channel etc.
