Hello every one- sorry for the repeat -lost my connection. My question is two fold, one is is there any way I could avoid the fixed deposit requierment during my upcoming renewal on my mm2h visa? In effect could I just forgoe the mm2h visa for a spousal visa or an extended stay visa by going in and out of the country? My wife is a Malaysian citizen and we are both retired.
My second question is has anyone renewed their mm2h visa on their own or did they need an agent?
   Thanks- best wishes to all

hi,

I've merged both posts.

If you obtained the visa without using an agent then you don't need an agent for renewal.

When you renew you need to show proof of the current FD. It's a requirement.

If you don't wish to renew the MM2H visa then you can notify MoTour and withdraw the FD.

You could then apply for a spouse visa. I think that they are now giving 2-years but you'll need to check, try the immigration/employment boards on www.alloexpat.com.

You could use the 3 month social visit pass but it gets inconvenient after a while, and becomes increasingly subject to immigration scrutiny. Your choice.

regards, Scott
