Medal for Service in Malysia - The Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal
« on: October 01, 2007, 12:34:57 AM »
To any ex forces personnel who served in Malaya/Malaysia or Singapore between August 1957 - August 1966.

Yes I am sure there are plenty still around.

In 2005 The Malaysia Government awarded the Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal to those who so served during the emergency. This has caused quite a furore in the UK because the FCO in their wisdom backed by MOD have refused to allow this to be worn on official ceremonials. Not that they have any real jurisdiction. They have also not assisted in the award of this medal.
I find this is disrespectful to those that gave thier lives in the emergency and to those "Vets" who served; not to mention an insult to Malaysia and it's people.

Although I missed qualification by 8 months I would urge any of those affected to get your PJM Follow the link to get the application:

This medal is also awarded to Kiwis and Aussies but I am sure your governments have dealt with the matter correctly.
