Parents of My2Homers
« on: September 17, 2007, 11:14:15 PM »
hi,

I forgot to post, or posted but forgot where, that as from 17th March 2007, the parents of MM2H visa holders can get a 6-month special social visit visa. The parents need to be 60 or above.

There is no information round of how this works in practice. If any members have used this special visa perhaps they can post details.

regards, Scott

hi, Rainbow,

No-one has posted on this site, or alloexpat, about this issue. I imagine that you need to go to the local immigration office and see what information they have.

Alternatively, try an email to MM2H at MoTour. They respond quite quickly these days.

Update so far, we have emailed Motour but we are getting the message "Inbox full" so ours is returned.
Phone calls between Motour & Putrajaya seem to be a waste of time as each is passing me back to the other, as usual when neither dept have dealt with this question before.

Our next office we are about to try is the immigration dept at our airport as we are only 10 min's away. We are off to the F1 race soon at Sepang so we will call in at Putrajaya personaly & see if we can get the right forms. The forms we can find on the web site are either not applicable or not in english.

Just had a nice email from a lady called Cindy Lim at the My 2nd Home Centre giving us the links to the correct forms & a list of 8 steps to follow. So will carry on & see how it goes. Will post the links when i have more time.

Scott:  how are you getting them to reply ?   All the Govt Sites I have used are dead or imploded!   What is your Email contact or Website which you use for Motour?   Fizzychickensoup and I would be rivetted to see it   :-0

hi,

As Rainbow posted in March - you need to email Cindy Lim at MoTour, she very good at reasonably fast responses.

I'm in Portugal at the moment, and given the state of things here, and in the UK, I have determined to never again complain about any slowness in response from Malaysian government entities.

Hi Scott,
Portugal.
Now there's a country that I have always had on my list assuming there are still some places where the British charter holiday crowd ( I do love them) have not found.
By the way did you sail from Europe when you first came to the exotic far east or is the boat a more recent acquisition.
Cheers
Donohue

Hear, Hear  - Spain is the same, Greece too, Italians - the French are slightly better:  However, if you buy in these countries it is IMPERATIVE that you have a friend who is fluent in the language.

The UK  !!!!  cough-cough.  All their systems are computerised (it cost a fortune to do and as always the initial costs doubled\trebled) ----  yet it takes them 4 months to give you a State Pension forecast.  A Judge recently said, on an issue which has made Case Law,  that Britian was becoming a Banana Repbulic ----  I rest my case.

Enjoy Portugal --- Ice Cold White Port - is fabulous in the early evening.  In the mountains  - early in the morning, in the clearing mists - the views from my Balcony reminded me of Asia and the Paddy fields - except they were Vines.  I said this to Paul Symington (Dows Port) and he looked at me askance!

Adeus and best wishes

hi, Donohue,

The boat was purchased in Singapore. The holiday crowd is starting to fill-up the beaches, cafes, and pockets of the Portugese businesses. But not too much these days given the strength of the euro, or weakness of the pound, whichever way you look at it.

regards, Scott
