Foreign direct investments at low point.

Is there already a Malaysia Economic Articles board?  If so I excuse me for posting this here  :-[

Malaysia's precipitous drop in inward foreign direct investments and an increase in outward foreign direct investments mark a complete lack of confidence in Malaysia's economy

The recent release of World Foreign Investment Report (WIR) 2010 by United Nations Conference of Trade and Development (UNCTAD) provided a picture that is nothing short of grim and ugly for the Malaysian economy especially in its attractiveness as a local and foreign investment destination.

I wonder what this will do to the Ringgit.

hi, Stuurman,

Nope, there's no specific board so here is just fine.

I think that part of the concern is that Najib stated a few months back that the affirmative action approach towards bumiputras in the NEP would need to be ameliorated and he proposed some measures. These proposals didn't really happen, and he later (a few weeks ago) confirmed that the special position of the Malay Malaysians was pretty much enshrined. There's also the bit-at-a-time & step-by-step reduction in subsidies that the market may feel is wait long, long. Although it's great from me and I don't mind.

Guess these may have had an impact but I just read the news so my 2 + 2 is often 5.    :P

Foreign direct investment is particularly vulnerable to corrupt activities of other reasons: the incentive for corruption is greater because of differences in income, corruption of an investor point of view goes beyond trade in terms of real value the local agent of lax regulatory environment for foreign investors negotiate bribes to market power in the local economy and to recover the cost of rising prices
