Hin Jac,

Boat freaks are the best kind of freaks hey. I'm going for unit at Marina island facing Pangkor Island. Man made Island still being built, but good marina facilities.

Just had a wade through this thread http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=409584
Plenty of pictures and stories of Marina developments in Malaysia and some of the photos are magnificent.

Love the views being portrayed by the graphic artist but I wouldn't for ONE MINUTE believe that it will look like that when finished.  I have seen too many marketing brochures put together by IT graduates who love to sit behind computers all day and dink around drawing design diagrams.  The reality -if it ever gets built- will be far from the brochure.

If they want to show reality, put some trash scattered around; bare clay soil in place of grass; and peeling paint (low-bid contractor).

hi,

I'd agree Teak, the folks who produce the fantasy images of projects live in a tree-filled, spotless environment. They're enamoured of couples sitting with wine glass in hand on balconies. Adjacent to the infinity pool is the eco-friendly landscaped wall. And down below there's azure seas and mega-yachts drifting lazily. And no-one around and nothing else to disturb the peace except a few far away birds floating in clear-blue skies. And I'm the emperor of China.

The ones in crowded, vertical Singapore are all placed in heavily wooded parks. Any other building is several miles away. The far  horizon level is a silhouette of Orchard Road.

Years ago, in London, an architectural mate of mine made a lot of cash from perspectives, and air-brushing. This was in the days when air-brushing made any ordinary sketch into a winner. Years before computer rendering etc. He'd get a client coming in with a pencil idea. 2 weeks later there was a wonderful perspective, smooth as silk, and all ready for the punters.

Pangkor, Lumut, Marina Island...all around the same lovely area in Perak. see http://picasaweb.google.com/101085037354444375788/Pangkor# the area has virtually unspoilt beaches and hideaways, cheap food, (RM2.40 this morning for a good dry wan ton noodles) affordable housing and apartments (Marina Island will sell 2 adjoining units on one title to get up to RM500k  ::)), Giant, Econsave, The Store, Tesco 1/2 built and Jusco rumoured on the way, cheap fresh fish and happy faces. From Marina Island a short trip in your boat to the Sembilan Islands, Mentangor Island, next to Pangkor Island, Teluk Nipah and so many beaches with no touts in sight (almost). With 4 marina's (one no maintenance and a crying shame)plus the navy in the area I call that Marina Country.
Cheers Tink
