GClub's grand event of the year is ON !

Press Conference; G Hotel, Saloon 1, 29/6/10; 10.00 am. All are welcome

23rd June, 2010;

This year event will be held on the 17th, October, 2010. There will be two categories of rides; 1) Fun ride; 20 Km from Esplanade via Jln Kelawai passing through kelawai - Gottlieb road traffic light, then along Jln Tanjong Tokong before looping into EO housing project at the Island Plaza and turning around jln Tg Tokong again and passed along Gurney drive round about and gurney drive and finally back to Esplanade. The round island route will be longer than last year route as we will be looping around Pulau Betong, a distance of about 80 Km. The jersey and t shirt design are being finalised. It will be quite different from last year design and colour but we hope to maintain the quality. Entrance fees are maintain at Rm 20 for fun ride and Rm 50 for round island ride. It will still be a non competitive ride where fellowships among cyclists are still the emphasis. As in our previous ride, SAFETY IS STILL THE PARAMOUNT consideration for this event..................to be updated later. Stay tune.

That looks like a whole lot of fun! Thanks BB for posting that.  :)

Does anyone know if there is a classic motorbike club in Penang? Before moving back to Sydney, Mr C bought four classic British motorbikes with the intention of restoring them but that has not happened. I am now wondering whether he will ever get around to it. Hopefully, he may get around to the restoration when he retires..........otherwise may have to bury him with his precious unrestored bikes.

Mr C is the proud owner of a 1950 Triumph, an AJS (forgotten the vintage), a 1963 Norton and a Matchless. Is any member here into old classic motor bikes?

 :D Hi Cupert with all the older cars about Penang has to be some motorcycle enthusiasts about, I remember the motorcycles mentioned all very well especially Triumphs, many cold wet miserable hours spent on them in the line of work, if you are putting any up for barter or adoption I'd love to be of help. My last motorcycle a Honda CX500 Turbo I foolishly sold a few years ago, still have a large daunting Tamyia kit of the Turbo to tackle some future day in my dotage. ~34~

Had a Triumph Tiger 500 cc and Honda Cub 75 cc in the 1970's in Malaysia.  I preferred the Honda Cub, riding double from Ipoh to KL  :D  That was after I lost a muffler on the Triumph in the middle of the night, riding from KL to Kuala Terengganu.  I had to ride all the way back to KL to get a replacement as there were no muffler for my Tiger 500 to be had anywhere  on the East Coast ~38~  Yes, the good old motorcycling days  O0

Hi Paddy

We must arrange a meet up when Mr C and I get to Penang. You have to talk to Mr C as to whether he is interested in bartering off his bike. I somehow don't think so. When daughter was 4 years old and was interested in becoming a concert panist  ^-^ , I thought it would be good to sell off Mr C's bike to a colleague of mine. We went through the whole processed of negotiating on the price and when it comes time to hand over, Mr C changed his mind and the deal fell through.  :-[

I swore I wouldn't come between Mr C and his beloved bikes again.  :)

I love the Triumph as it has two seats and no suspension. When we used to go for a bike run, I had to strap a cushion on to the seat or lift bottom up whenever Mr C hits the porthole or go over a bump.  8-)

Hieu, they were fun days, wasn't it. Nowadays, Mr C rides daughter's Vespa scooter to the gym and shops. Bought the Vespa for Ms C as a bribe to reconsider moving to London. She only rode the bike half a dozen times or so and it sits gathering dust just like the classic bikes until Mr C decided to make use of it. I must say when the prices of petrol went up it makes sense to ride bikes as they consumed less petrol.
