Student Visa for Kids
« on: August 21, 2010, 11:13:12 PM »

Another thing after getting MM2H visa (whole family) do my children still need student pass for studying there ?

Thanks,
Ferdi

Hi Ferdi,
My kids have studied here for 11 years and never needed a Student VISA. After all they already have their own MM2H visa

hi,

I checked with Yvonne at Joy-Stay about a student visa and this is her email :

Quote
For your information, children who hold MM2H visa must also obtain the pass (it is an additional chop stamp)  to study here. MM2H visa is for staying in Malaysia, the student pass is for studying here.

The MM2H student pass are only given to those kids who are below the College/University Level, once they enter college, they will need to give up the MM2H visa and obtain the official Student Pass (sticker type as the MM2H visa ) in order to be properly enrolled/registered in the College/University here.

Without the official Student Pass, the kid will not be given the degree/diploma. This pass is linked to the Ministry of Education system. In other words, if the student does not have the proper student pass, at the end of his/her education, he/she will not be issued the degree/diploma.

Interesting.

Odd ours have never been questioned on it, asked to show it or needed it in 11 years.

Highly unlikely they will stay here for their tertiary education (if they go that far), so shouldn't be an issue :-\

I am sure there should be a separate thread for this but I am just following the sequence!! ???

I have a confession to make. Our kids do have a 'Student Pass'!!! :o :o . My wife informed me she acquired them last year as one boy had to go to Jakarta for a rugby trip, unaccompanied by either parent...so one was required then. To save time and effort she got one for each of them.

No extra cost, just another trip to PTWC!

There you go, and I thought I knew everything! f.wink

My caveat is that they got though 10 years without one!!!! ~12~

Regarding tertiary education, are there many (if any) European students attending any of the universities and colleges in KL? I was thinking there would not be and was gearing the wallet up to enrolling my eldest two in Singapore - if they manage to get the appropriate A level grades.

Thanks,

John

We are not aware of many/any!!!

However there are lots of 'foreign students in Malaysia. Some are legit, but a lot are not!! ~12~
