There is some really useful information on health insurance here, especially the "Waiver for Medical Insurance" thread started by Scott. In most cases, however, the question adressed is what to do if you don't get health insurance? For a variety of reasons, however, some of us would much rather not even try to get health insurance, if it would be possible to get a
MM2H visa without it.
The position apparently is:
Medical insurance: medical insurance for Malaysia is a condition of the MM2H endorsement for applicants aged below 60. An exemption applies to those aged 60 and above who are not able to purchase a medical insurance policy for Malaysia due to age. However, not many insurance companies in Malaysia are willing to insure clients who are above 60 years old age. As such if you are able to produce a letter from an insurance company that they are unable to insure you due to age factor, you need not purchase a medical insurance policy for your stay in Malaysia. In contrast to the text highlighted above, several posts at this Forum suggest that a number of insurance companies
are willing to insure clients above 60. I wonder if someone with knowledge and experience could clarify (1) whether insurance companies do or do not insure clients over 60; and (2) offer advice to a complete novice at this on how to go about getting a rejection letter (do you go to the HQ of an insurance company, to agents--how do you find them, and what do you say--do you simply ask for a rejection letter, etc.)? I have visions of going door to door for several days in this quest; is there a way to avoid this?
Please forgive me if this addresses too narow an interest, and accept my thanks in anticipation for any and all advice and guidance that might be offered.
