Witness required for direct application?
« on: May 05, 2010, 12:39:49 PM »
Hello all,
I have a question to the main application form page 4. At the bottom of this page is a part about details of a witness who should sign the form as well. Does anyone know if this is required for a direct application? Who should this witness be? Can it be my spouse?

Kind regards
Berry

hi, Berry,

Welcome to the site.

I did my own DIY application 7 years ago so I could be out of date. So I've asked Yvonne at Joy-Stay and she tells me that :

Quote
I looked at the direct applicant's form,  the witness part states Nationality therefore i believe any nationality will do. However, the spouse or immediate family members of the person who complete the form should not be the witness.

The witness should write their full name as in their passports or identification cards in case the authority requires the applicant to submit the witness' documents later.

Hope this helps. The witness is required for a Direct Application, but not for an agent application.

If any members have recent experience of this perhaps they will be kind enough to post.

Hello all,
I just want to let anyone know that I used a Justice of Peace in Australia as witness and it worked well - my application has been approved now.
