Current Proof of Offshore Income
« on: March 16, 2010, 07:58:13 PM »
What isn't so absolutely crystal clear (as posted above) is the situation for those folks who applied using the Pension option, and who may be affected by fluctuating exchange rates. No-one on this forum has posted about this.
The MoTour site says : Current proof of Monthly Offshore Income (if applicable)

Hi Scott,

Some time ago FCS wrote down his experience. As I understand Motour was only interested in proof of source of income, not the actual amount, thus fluctuating exchange rates might not be an issue. See http://www.my2home.info/index.php/topic,350.0.html
For me that is an important observation, because this year when extending my visa I'm not that keen on showing my current income in RM, which is currently below the RM10k threshold.

hi, danny,

Thanks for that. I'd forgotten the FCS post. So the main item is confirming the source rather than amount. Makes sense. After all the FD is a fluctuating amount when compared to other currencies.

In 1996, before the Asian Financial Crisis, RM300,000 was worth about US$120,00. In 1998, after the AFC, it was worth US$63,000, and today it's worth US$90,000.

And that's what it says, "current proof of offshore income." An amount isn't specified. Similar to when anyone renews there's no need to re-show any other cash assets.

hi, tomy,

You need to have a supporting income, and there hasn't been any posts on this site, or elsewhere, to indicate that Immigration have lightened up on this.

Am I understanding this correctly:-  that on re-applying for the next extension one still has to prove the RM10.k a month ?

hi, Rae M,

Check out Danny's first post on this topic :
