Postage Stamps
« on: April 06, 2010, 08:25:51 PM »
hi,

One of the smaller cost of living items . I've always thought that Malaysia has a really good selection of attractive postage stamps. And local and international postage rates are very cheap. They're some of the cheapest in the world having been fixed in 1992.

Postage rates will be going up in July. The rates are yet to be announced but comment is that they'll double on average for local letters. International, don't know.

I use the Post Office a lot. The snail pace of the counter staff is very stoic. I always get the impression that the PO feels that stamps and letters (and paying bills) are too important to be hurried. And they'll get your letter delivered no matter how long it takes.   :-\

I take a book or newspaper with me.

Scott,

I'm having some papers posted to me at my hotel in KL. I'm assuming that the postal service works as "normal - i.e. that the postman delivers to the premises. Or do I have to go to a post office to collect the mail?

Thanks.

hi, john,

You're right, the postman delivers to the address stated.

There isn't a general PO box system here as in Spain etc.
