Renewals : Changes Noticed on MoTour Site
« on: March 15, 2010, 11:10:20 AM »
hi,

I checked the MoTour site today and noticed that the renewals section had been re-written as follows:

RENEWAL – AFTER 5 YEAR PERIOD

a.   The Applicant must be present in person at the Immigration Department of Malaysia or State Immigration Department which issued the initial approval.

b.   The Applicant should bring the following documents and payment:

Letter of intention to continue the Programme
Original & Photocopy of Applicant’s Passport
        IMM. 55
         IMM. 38 (if applicable)
Payment of RM 90 per year for the Social Visit Pass, payable to the Immigration Department
Original & Copy of Fixed Deposit (if applicable)
Current proof of Monthly Offshore Income (if applicable)
Original & Copy of Health Insurance
Original & Copy of Confirmation Letter from Bank (if applicable)
Original & Copy of Conditional Approval Letter
Provide security bond if for renewal done personally

* The extension process takes approximately 7 days from the date of submission.

RENEWAL – AFTER 10 YEAR PERIOD

a.   The Applicant must be present in person at the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

b.   The Applicant should bring the following documents and payment:

Letter of intention to continue the Programme
Original & Photocopy of Applicant’s Passport
        IMM. 55
         IMM. 38 (if applicable)
Payment of RM 90 per year for the Social Visit Pass, payable to the Immigration Department
Original & Copy of Fixed Deposit (if applicable)
Current proof of Monthly Offshore Income (if applicable)
Original & Copy of Health Insurance
Original & Copy of Confirmation Letter from Bank (if applicable)
Original & Copy of Conditional Approval Letter
Provide security bond if for renewal done personally

* The extension process takes approximately 7 days from the date of submission.

The items in BOLD are new. When I renewed personally last year I didn't need any security bond as my visa was granted on a sponsor basis. I'll check with MoTour and see if this only applies to current requirements, or perhaps a member has up-to-date info.

It says Current Proof of Monthly Offshore Income rather than Pension Income.  Is this suggesting that you may need to show RM 10,000 monthly income at renewal after all, if you have FD?

hi, papaya,

Yep, I noticed that as well.

Against each item is added, in brackets, the comment "if applicable." I think that this refers to the option chosen for the application i.e. FD or Pension.

So if "Original & Copy of Fixed Deposit (if applicable)" applies then "Current proof of Monthly Offshore Income (if applicable)" doesn't apply.

That's how I would read it but maybe other members have alternatives.

I sent an email to Cindy at MoTour. She replied very quickly and she's getting back to Immigration to check on things. I'll post the Q&A when the A bit is received.   ^-^

hi,

This is a copy of the reply just posted on the Renewals & FD topic.

Quote
There's been 2 outstanding queries ;

The first on this thread is "can the FD amount be reduced (RM300,000 to RM150,000) for below 50's becoming above 50's."

The second is on this topic Renewals : Changes Noticed on MoTour Site and concerns changes on the MoTour site regarding the security bond.

I've received answers to these queries from MM2H. These were the emailed questions.

My Email to the MM2H Centre :

Quote
Q). If someone under 50 gets the mm2h visa and has a FD RM300,000, can
this amount be reduced to FD RM150,000 when the person reaches over 50
and still has the mm2h visa.

My Other Email to MM2H Centre :

Quote
Q).  I noticed on the MoTour site that the renewals section had been upgraded. There's an extra requirement needed at the time of renewal "provide Security Bond if for renewal done personally."

I am right to assume that this does not apply to those participants who didn't need a cash security bond i.e. those who used a local (non-agent) sponsor who signed the form and undertook to pay in the event anything happening.

So far MoTour has done a really good job on ensuring that the terms and conditions of the original application are those that apply on renewal. This has given a great sense of security to many of us. Judging by comments on my forum this assurance is a pivotal reason for people liking the my2home scheme.

And the reply from MM2H Centre :

Quote
Thank you for your email to MM2H Centre.

Please be informed that all applicants approved on Fixed Deposit (FD) criterion are required to abide by the Fixed Deposit amounts stipulated for their age category upon approval, for as long as they are participating in MM2H programme.  As such an applicant aged below 50 upon approval does not get the FD amount reduced when he touches 50. However he may writes to us to withdraw part of the deposit on the expenses approved by the Ministry.

With regard to the renewal process, it is no longer required for participants to produce any bond. We will update our website accordingly.

So that's pretty clear. The terms and conditions you've received with the original visa apply on renewal. There's no FD reduction for getting older and crossing the 50 barrier.

And, the statement on the renewals section of the MM2H.gov.my website "Provide security bond if for renewal done personally" is no longer required and this will be updated.

Dear all :
As I read several articles from these forum, I still not sure that :
1/. IMM. 38 what is this for and where can I download from as well as IMM 55?
2/. Conditional approval letter, what is this for and where can I obtain ?
3/. Personnel bond, I understand I have to buy a RM10 and get a stamp from
local tax office, and RM 1500, do I need to pay this amount to which office ?
I intended to renew it next month.
              Thanks

hi, Harold,

Here's the attachment for IM.55

This is the standard social visit pass extension Form that is used for mm2h, 90-Day visas, 30-Day visa, and all the rest. It's the basic application to extend a stay in Malaysia. It's a very simple form.

hi, again, Harold,

Here's the attachment for IM.38

This form is a variation on IM.55 and it is for a visa application whilst out of the country. I suppose it's for those passports that don't get a visa on arrival. At least that's my understanding.

I have one of these forms in front of me, and like IM55 it's in Bahasa Melayu. Fortunately it's also a very simple form. Neither of these forms need to be stamped so I guess you could just fill them in at MM2H in PWTC.

The IM38 heading on the form says, "Permohonan Untuk Visa." Any translators out there?

 . . . and the last bit :

2/. Conditional approval letter, what is this for and where can I obtain ?

This is the Approval Letter that you received to confirm your visa. It has a useful reference number on it, and it also gives the terms & conditions of the visa, so everyone can make sure that that's what your getting on renewal.

3/. Personnel bond, I understand I have to buy a RM10 and get a stamp from local tax office, and RM 1500, do I need to pay this amount to which office ?

You buy the RM10 Hasil stamp from the Post Office, and, yes , you get the Security Form impressed (embossed, stamped) at the Local Tax Office. You pay the RM1,500 at the MM2H centre at PWTC, and you will get a receipt.

There's still a ? on this.

The sentence, "Provide security bond if for renewal done personally" appeared on the MoTour website. See 1st Post on this thread.

I asked MoTour about this and the reply was, "With regard to the renewal process, it is no longer required for participants to produce any bond. We will update our website accordingly. Refer Post #3.

So far the website still says the same thing. So it's not clear what the current situation is, and if you find out please let us all know. Many thanks, in advance.

PS : Remember that the Security Bond amount varies depending on the country that has issued the passport. Also check out : Security Bond for the location of Post Office & Tax Office nearest to PWTC.

hi, Harold,

Nice to hear from you.

The only general change is that MM2H Ministry of Tourism Central, plus the Immigration MM2H Unit, have all moved from PWTC in KL to offices at Putrajaya.

So, instead of the MRT to get to PWTC, it's either a car, a taxi, or a long bus ride to get to Putrajaya. There again, Putajaya is one of the cleanest spots in Malaysia so it's a very pleasant place when you get there.
