Airlines servicing Langkawi
« on: February 24, 2010, 08:02:31 PM »
I'm planning a trip from Jakarta to KL to Langkawi to Penang next month.
Jakarta-Malaysia will be Air Asia.

Thanks to Papaya's email I have a good read on the trip but can only find Malaysian and Firefly that make non-stop flights within Malaysia. Are there more?

Don't like the idea of the long ferry ride although someone did mention a short ferry to the Mainland and a direct coach service to Penang, but cannot find any details...anyone help?

Kinda scared of flying.... ~35~wings might fall off.
Thanks
David

I'd do the whole trip on Air Asia:

Jakarta - KL - Langkawi - KL - Penang...

Thanks Vanman
I think that I will do all by Air Asia but it seems a long way round to do Langkawi to KL and back to Penang
Malaysia and Firefly do Langkawi non-stop to Penang, in 35 mins...I just wondered if there were any other airlines that did non-stop.

BTW thanks for the info on no landing cards req'd

Does anyone know why my smiley, on my original post, just comes out as a number and not the actual smiley?

I flew Firefly and they are great. They fly relatively new Fokker Friendships. The fares are low. Sometimes the fare is almost non existent and they make their money on the fuel levy.  :) :)

Sarcasm does not become you  :P

For what it's worth, we've done Firefly several times now from Phuket to Penang, and Penang to KL, and we prefer them to AirAsia.  The Firefly planes seem newer and there's more space/leg room.  Configuration is 2 each side which is nice.  I have to admit that I get a little nervous on the smaller planes - turbulence is a little hairy sometimes - but Mr P tells me that there's less to go wrong on a smaller plane.  One way of looking at it, I guess.

Thanks Papaya for that info...Firefly also have 2 flights a day Langkawi-Penang so looks like I'll book.

I see you GOT my little attempt at humour.

Please remind Mr P. what a previous Director of the Federal Aviation Administration said when asked "Why do you always fly on aircraft with four engines?"
His response "Because they don't make too many with five!"  :D

Thanks Scott....me know neither. Yet, on my last post #5 here, the smiley is present.

Papaya might have thought my OP a little more amusing if the #35 smiley I added showed...as you have presented.

Ah well...even Charlie Chaplin was not always funny.  :'(
