Yes, and you can all start practicing whit this one:

Hup Holland Hup
Laat de leeuw niet in z'n hempie staan
Hup Holland Hup
Trek het beestje geen pantoffels aan
Hup Holland Hup
Laat je uit 't veld niet slaan
Want de leeuw op voetbalschoenen
Durft de hele wereld aan

I saw that one the other day but cannot figure out what it's all about.  Is someone trying to sell something?  Private venture?

Private venture indeed.

I am the guilty one however. Penang Expat is intended to be a website that reports on community news for the expatriates living in Penang. We are not competing with the likes of this fine forum but aim to complement it by being very specific and giving the community a voice and face while getting professionals to offer advice across a number of issues, doing business, insurance, taxation etc. Will there be commerce on there. Of course. I need to eat although I have options that I would prefer not to do for the moment.

Am I out there promoting. Yes again. it is how the internet works and websites grow. I have a link back to this website by way of reciprocity.

I hope we can provide a useful service.

Steve

Hi Keith,

There may be 2 options worth considering:

Penang Swimming Club if you like swimming, boating etc in an attractive seafront setting. Market value of debenture is 23,500RM & is transferable/saleable (I was offered one at 24,000RM)

Penang Sports Club if you like old world atmosphere in extremely lush setting with superb facilities. Debenture is 15,000RM & not transferable.

Cheers,

James

Hi Everyone

Does anyone know of any interesting social clubs in Penang worth joining? We'll be moving there in June and it would be great to be able to meet new people once we are settled. The place is great but it's all about the people in the end.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Keith

Etherus, the link I posted was for penangexpats with an S.  I think it's different to penangexpat.  I got the feeling that the one with an S is linked to a MM2H agent?

Hi James,

Penang Swimming Club
The total cost is the offer price plus RM6000 (admin fee). If the RM24000 includes the admin fee I would jump at it. The club is not currently offering new memberships and the improvements for the new building will create demand. More condos more demand so higher prices. Quite a good investment I think.

The club has skuba, swimming, fishing (shore and sea), darts, chi kung, tai chi, dance sports, gym, sail training, banqueting etc etc.

You will need a sponsor if you want to join.

Other clubs to consider
Gun Club
The Heritage Club

Keith - Drop me a pm when you arrive in Penang, there are a few of us that may be able to assist.

Regards

Bob

Hi Bob,

In a recent discussion at PSC apparently there are members who defaulted on payments/fees and now the sponsors might be made liable for the costs because it says the sponsors are supposed to know the ones they sponsored.

There is Rumah Matsellah which is mentioned above but looking at their website it seems to have tailed off in activity.

Of course there is Penang Expat, also on Facebook, you are welcome to join.
