sewing supplies
« on: February 08, 2010, 11:03:39 AM »
Hi everyone,
This is my first post.  We've been in Penang for a month, have rented an apartment next door to Gurney Plaza.  I am going NUTS trying to find plain old sewing thread!  And pins!
Any suggestions?
Thank you

hi, cheesecake face

Welcome to the site. I'll leave the info on sewing thread to the folks in Penang. I'm Ok on boating stuff though.

Hi was a great shop I was in for Velcro not far from Komtar I'd got off bus from Batu Ferringhi at front of Komtar walked short distance on left side of street, shop just like I recall as a child in Ireland everything to keep the sewing folks happy, sorry I can't be more detailed, may also be similar down in Indian area.

Hi there Paddy 96,
Thanks so much for the info.  Will check it out tomorrow, since we'll be headed over that way anyway.  Couldn't believe it was do difficult to find some pins and a bit of thread.
Now, you've solved the problem.  Thanks again....and have a great day!

Hi Cheesecake,

There's a shop on Penang Rd. called 'sin seng lee' (not sure of the exact spellings) that sells sewing threads, pins, beads etc
If coming from the overhead bridge to Pg Rd, it's on the right hand side.

Hi , I find Sin Seng Lee a great craft shop.  You want to learn how to knit, buy wool from them and you are given a free starter lesson. You will need woollies if you are coming to Uk. Its 2 weeks count down for us to get thawed out
