Baba-Nonya culture in Penang
« on: March 25, 2010, 05:53:26 PM »
Hey!

Do you know there is more to Penang than just the beach, George Town, hawkers food, flea markets?

There is also the unique baba-nonya culture which can be found in Penang, Malacca and Singapore.

If you wish to know more about this unique culture, check this site: http://www.peranakannetworks.com/blog/?page_id=12

Have you tasted nonya food? Do you know that the asam laksa is a nonya cuisine?  :)

Hi Cupert,

If you like Baba-Nyonya culture, don't miss out Pinang Peranakan Mansion on Church Street when you come to Penang.  I visited this mansion twice and loved it.  Here are some photos I took last year :

Hi Costa

Thanks. I have been to the Singapore Peranakan museum but this one looks absolutely beautifully restored.

I can't wait to see it. Mr Cupert has been to the Cheong Fatt Tze mansion but of course it is not peranakan.
