Where to go to collect your NEW Visa
« on: January 20, 2010, 12:12:47 PM »
Can someone clarify which level(s) you have to go to for pick up of visa.  Our conditional approval letter says go to Immigration Unit - Ministry of Tourism Malaysia on Level 6.  One of the postings above also states Level 6.

On another recent thread elsewhere on the forum, someone is stating go to Level 4 MM2H office.  May I presume that this is for direct applications only?

Can someone confirm that there are 2 separate places?

Putrajaya is well south of KL and is on the way to the KLIA airport, and has an Immigration Office. [perhaps Head Office]

PWTC is in the Menara D'ato building near the Putra and PWTC stations in northern KL, and has an Immigration Office on one of the floors.

People seem to be using the terms Putrajaya and PWTC interchangeably, which is perhaps one source of the several confusions.

As I understand it, Putrajaya is the old Immigration office where you used to have to go.  I guess it still operates as an Immigration office?

Somewhere on this forum, I read it earlier, it said that applicants now have to go to Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) to collect their visas.  My question is which level.

Hi Papaya!
According to nks900 it is located on the 4th floor of the PWTC building Menara Dato Onn. As long as you are in the right building, you can always ask the guard on duty which floor is their MM2H Immigration Unit located?

Yes I read that posting about the 4th floor.  That's what confused me as my letter says 6th floor.  Maybe they just changed floors.  I just thought I saw something on here somewhere.  I'll have another look through the threads.  As you say, I can always ask at the frontdesk :)

I've been trawling through the old pages on here and found this posting from Scott last March 2009, saying that it is indeed Level 6 to go to and, according to Joy-Stay, the MM2H counters at Putrajaya are closing.

If anyone disagrees with this, please let us know - cheers.

The Ministry of Tourism for issue of the Visa is NOT in Putrajaya.

It is in Kuala Lumpur at the Putra World Trade Centre level 6.

I was there last week and was issued with our Visa.

We befriended a Japanese gentleman who had achieved his Visa using no agent and, other than giving the Security Deposit in cash, the process was the same as ours.

You will need to offer some form of ID to enter the tower, they issue a security tag along with your ID back. The Japanese guy only had his passport so, when we went for lunch, he did not have any ID to return as his passport was still at level 6. I had to verify him...quite funny.

Perhaps the title of this thread would have been less confusing as  "Do you have to attend PWTC in person?"  [meaning Menara D'ato with or without Agent, and which floor]

This would avoid the confusion created by "Putrajaya", where all now seem agreed that we don't go.  Is it too late to change it?  Would that be a good idea anyway?

I think when the thread was started in Feb 2008 you did have to go to Putrajaya, hence the title, but nothing to stop anyone amending the subject line.  I forget sometimes.

hi,

Putrajaya is the Federal Capital and has Immigration HQ. Putrajaya is not the old Immigration office (which was Damansara) but it's the brand new Immigration complex.

Early last year there were plans for mm2h visas to be issued at the Putra World Trade Centre in a special Immigration section in the same building as the MM2H One-Stop Centre :

MALAYSIA MY SECOND HOME CENTRE (MM2H)
Ministry of Tourism Malaysia,
Level 23, Menara Dato' Onn,
Putra World Trade Centre,
50695 Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA.

However, these plans were delayed and visas continued to be issued at Putrajaya. Late in 2009 the plans got completed and now visas are issued at :

MALAYSIA MY SECOND HOME CENTRE
IMMIGRATION UNIT
Ministry of Tourism,Malaysia
Level 6,Menara Dato’ Onn, PutraWorld Trade Centre
50695 Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA

Phone +603-2696 3325/3302/3323/3302
Fax +603-2691 1272
MONDAY – THURSDAY Operating Hours 7.30am – 5.00pm (Lunch 1pm – 2pm)
FRIDAY Operating Hours 7.30am – 5.00pm. (no lunch hour given so please phone)

Only for those folks (a) renewing the visa, or (b) getting an extension, it is best to phone the PWTC Immigration Unit and quote your reference number and confirm where to go.   :P

Thanks for chapter and verse in post no 12, and for improving the thread title.  I think we can all be more confident now.

hi,

I've split off the last 2 posts into a new topic "Penang Shortcomings" over on the Penang Matters board. Refer : Penang Shortcoming's

BTW, for those not familiar, Reply #11 is post number 12.  :P

I understand the confusion with the level 6s and level 4s now.  Reception/security desk is on level 4.  MM2H Imigresen office is on level 6.

If you arrive at the back of the building, which is where our taxi dumped us, you have to get to level 4 first at the other side of the building.  We just went up some steps but apparently there is a lift somewhere.  Then show some ID to the reception desk, get a pass, then into a lift up two levels to Level 6.  It's not difficult to find it.
